Lenovo, Dell, and HP are all good. Depends on what you're doing and the specs you need.

A month ago we ordered the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10(32gb memory). It shipped yesterday after being stuck in Shanghai for a month.

Same for me and it needs to be a Windows machine for my current employment. Is the Windows Surface Laptop 4 a good laptop? It's getting long in the tooth but no announcements yet on the Surface Laptop 5.

The Lenovo ThinkPads are very solid business laptops. I am rocking an AMD T14s Gen 2 and it is a great machine.

What's your budget? Surface Pros/Laptops are always a safe bet and I also like the Dell Latitudes. The new MacBook Air that's coming out looks really promising if you're into Macs.

Subtle brag, but just got a really nice Dell XPS for work but it was on the top end. My manager submitted a requisition for two for both of us thinking he'd probably be denied, but lo and behold the thing showed up. i9/64gb/4gb graphics/touchscreen/etc.

Does anyone want to buy a new Surface Book 2 15" 500 GB from me? It still has an extended warranty until October I believe. It was a replacement from Microsoft that I never bothered to open. I would rather sell it, because I need the money. I realize it's now an older model, but was quite pricey. Willing to sell much less than any other asking prices online.

I wanted an xps or Mac, would have to learn that though. I called dell and did see other computers but their customer service was terrible. I had to ask 3 times to transfer because I couldn’t understand the rep. That pissed me off now even further lost.

I don't know how strong the business use case is for them but my next personal laptop will be the Framework Laptop. The swappable modules are interesting, as is the ease of upgrading. The community seems vibrant and I think it's getting some momentum. And based on reviews it holds its own as a thin&light laptop even ignoring everything special about it.

That seems a bit pricey, but the concept of "upgrade as you go" is pretty neat. If I remember correctly, the original Intel NUC design was supposed to be similar- you could upgrade it in pieces, but by the time it came to market it was an expensive tiny machine that was user-accessible, but the idea of upgrading the CPU or motherboard from year to year was sort of lost.

This laptop bothers me a little bit, though. There isn't one standard USB-C port on the thing. There are four deeply recessed ones that owners seem to suggest aren't easily accessible for, say, a charging cable. So you have to pay $10 just to charge your own laptop. It's also a little bit as if on one hand, you have people who hate dongles. But if you fit dongles into a recessed jack and call them "upgradeable multi-ports," the same people go nuts over them

Don't you have some G4 Pros at your house?

I'm a big fan of upgradeable tech, especially when it's designed specifically to be so.

The advertised "starting" price includes 4 of the usb-c expansion cards. From that POV you can save $30 and still charge the laptop.

Count me as one of those people, and I don't really find it strange. The downside of a dongle is the dangle. If it fits flush with the body of the device, I wouldn't call it a dongle. Even if someone makes some oversize ones that poke out a bit, it would still be far better in terms of ergonomics and durability than what I would call a "dongle".

I am typing this on my home office/travel SB2, so I don't need one, but I always suggest this model to people who don't need a super computer, b/c the top-end ones are incredibly expensive. I got mine (i5/8GB/512) used for like $800 on FB marketplace a few years ago.
