My nexus 5x just bit the dust

So my nexus 5x (I'm on project fi) just bit the dust. I spent about 30 minutes with google chatting to find out it's a hardware issue. My phone is out of warranty. I've had it for about 2 years. I don't really want to buy another 5x. Any opinions on the 6p? It says the google store is out of stock for the smaller pixel.
ETA: it looks like they have the black pixel in stock.

Don't get the nexus 5x again. I have two in my house and i count every day they continue to work a blessing.
It's basically and LG issue. Won't be buying an LG made phone again.

Happened to my wife's, got her a Moto g5 plus and to be honest, even though it's cheaper it's a better phone than the 5x. We will see about software updates, but that is less important at this stage of Android anyway, IMO of course

That's about how old mine is. My friend has a 6p that he loves and I was tempted to swap my 5x for one, but I don't think you can buy them new anymore and I have reservations about buying a used phone that's >2 years old b/c that's when batteries go to shite

The new software updates have our phones purring like they're new. Yes the battery isnt quite the same but what 2 year phone is?
However, if and when i get the bootloop of death no way i replace it with another 5x.

When I first started researching, this was the problem I was expecting to have. I can't even get mine to boot on though. I went through my project fi account and it looked like you could order a new 6p or 5x, but I'm definitely not getting a new 5x.
I haven't had any problems with the fi service, so I'm sticking with that. I might bite the bullet on the pixel.

I think there are variations of the issue. Not everyone's goes through a bootloop. Some may do what yours is doing. Either way its likely the same soldering issue. At least, if i had to guess.

Some dude on XDA shipped his bootloop 5x off to China and for $60 they permanently fixed the solder and increased it to 4GB and apparently it's screaming fast now.
I'll try to find the link. For $60 it may be worth taking a chance to get your phone back.

My mom has a 5X and I've been afraid to do any software updates due to the issues I've been hearing. So it's safe to install the updates? Her 5X is running fine right now

My 5x bit the dust and I got oneplus3T just because I cant in good faith pay for the pixel.
With that said it the best phone I have ever owned and oxygen IMO is better than stock android.
How did you adjust to not having a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone coming from the 5x?
I feel like my next phone has to have a sensor on the back bc im so used to the 5x.

I miss it a lot. I bought a Moto C from Costco b/c I needed a cheap phone. The battery on my 5X got to the point that it would only last about 4 hours. The phone was 2 years and my wife got it wet on the beach once. The phone held up better than most here. I always liked the 5x and if the battery was still good, I'd still be using it.

Dash charging crap killed the OnePlus for me.
I'd say get the 6P off Swappa or consider the ZTE Axon 7 for a little more.
