Yes, I know we have a tech board. No, I don't want to wait 4 weeks to get a response.
Plenty of computer savvy nerds on the OT.

I noticed that I started losing inbox email from my Desktop and phone. Currently my email only goes back 5 or 6 weeks. Both account are SMPT.
I have an old laptop that I recently turned on to update the virus protection and Windows 10. This computer has all of my inbox emails for several years. The account on this computer is set for POP.
I think I've figured out the issue. Before I turned my laptop on, my outlook email stayed on a server and was shared by two devices. When I turned on the laptop, set for POP, it downloaded all the email to the computer and ERASED it from the server.
How do i get all of my emails from my laptop, back to my desktop?

I would create a .PST(outlook archive) and move the messages to it. Then copy the .PST to a jump drive or whatever and move it to the other pc. You can leave the mail in the .PST or move it back in to your mailbox.... Also, kill the pop account on the laptop.

Create a .pst by going to new items->other items-> outlook data file

Open a PST under file -> open and export -> Open outlook Data file

I had an outlook sync issue a few months back, I had to get our IT dept to fix it. I'm not very computer savvy.

I got my emails back!!! Thanks!!!
I'm trying to change the email settings on the laptop to match the desktop.
the account type is POP3 and is grayed out (won't let me change). I go to more settings and advanced and it only shows an incoming of (POP3). it won't let me choose an incoming server of IMAP although my outgoing server is SMTP. How do I get my incoming server to change?

Just nuke the account. Go to control panel and open the mail icon. Delete the mail profile. Set it back up as IMAP.

Move all your email to the mailbox and out of the .PST on your desktop so you can see it all.

You shouldn't be using anything with POP, IMAP, or Exchange ActiveSync anymore.

Microsoft will be deprecating Legacy Authentication soon and forcing everyone to use Modern Auth with SMTP being the only exception.
