are you looking for high quality audio? If so, you'd be better off with separate AVR and amp.

What speakers, if you want super loud most people go with separate amps, but that tends to come with logistics issues.

I bought a Sony STR-AN1000 for our movie room. I've been very impressed with its setup and room correction settings. It's perfect for movies and TV. No modern A/V receiver is audiophile-grade, but those cost much more than $1000 anyway.

Good luck finding something new under $1000. Getting more than 150 watts through an 8 ohm load means giant center tap transformers and split power supplies. If 150wpc is ok, there is dirt cheap tech out there. A tpa3255 complete board is like $15 and I’d imagine that’s what most products use. Sonos amp has one anyway. Not sure about home theatre.

Are you using horn speakers?

You can probably get way with 100 /ch.
