Ordered my Pixel 2 XL through Google and couldn't be more excited to experience all the hype. That camera and the simplicity of the overall phone is what lured me.

Anyone else on Project Fi though? I expect the T-Mobile towers to take control in DFW where I'm at so I don't expect too much of a drop-off in service.

I went from T-Mobile to Fi. Kind of spotty in rural areas, but no regrets.

I've had both and they're roughly the same. Makes sense considering Fi uses T-Mobile's towers in addition to US Cellular and Sprint. Coverage was generally ok, but really anywhere outside of a major city was poor or non-existent. I ended up switching to Verizon for much better coverage at a slightly higher cost.

Am I missing something? I pay 80$ for my wife and I. Project Fi said it’d be 100$.
Why are you going to project fi again?!

Total or each?

Fi now caps at $80, and a two person group plan caps at $135.

Personally, as a low data user, I use Fi because my bills average $30.

Not sure how you and your wife are only paying $80 total, but I wouldn't leave with that. Personally, I wanted to try something new a try and also break free from the standard Samsung phones at t mobile. It's just another form of cord cutting but for mobile service. Sorta... Lol

I get that. To be honest, if I wasn't still paying off my iPhone 8 plus, I'd REALLLLLLLYYYY be interesting in getting that Google Pixel 2 XL.

I'm all in on google right now. Recently purchased the Google Wifi and love it as well as 2 Nest Cams and a Nest Thermostat. Not to mention I use the following apps on my iPhone:
-Nest app
-Google Wifi app
-Google Photos
-YouTube
-YouTube TV
-Google Keep
-Google Express

... on my iPhone.

Dear Google,
Please give me a Google Pixel 2 XL and we can completely close the circle.

That's one drawback to Fi - they don't really run any promotions on any devices. Friend of mine just switched to AT&T from Verizon, and AT&T gave him an iPhone X and Apple Watch, while also buying out his Verizon contract. He did have to trade in his iPhone 8 Plus to them. I don't ever see Google doing anytihng like that, though you can trade in an older phone I think.

The tradeoff is my Fi bill is usually only $30, while his AT&T bill will probably run $150+ per month.

T-Mobile but yea, it is. Now, that being said, that's what we'd pay without having subsidized our phones. Our bill is actually like 128$ but that includes like a 20$ per month charge for my wife's phone and a 28$ a month charge for my phone.

Assuming I had bought the phones outright, our bill would be 80$ AANNNNNDDDD there's no tax. Although I'm sure it's lumped in the 80$ bill somewhere.

Yeah the only promos I ever remember seeing where for getting $50 google play credit or something. It's not nothing, but not a game changer.

I get $80 credit for a month of service as a new customer. But i think best buy offered $300 off the Pixel 2 if you were with Verizon. It was a limited time promo.

I left Fi for T-Mobile because Fi was not saving me any money. IF you can use almost no cell data you can save money on Fi but the more lines you add and the more likely you are to use a bit of data T-Mobile family plans are way cheaper. Then you can factor in the netflix promotion which adds value, T-Mobile Tuesday's add value as well.

The gas discount alone every 1-3 Tuesdays saved about 5$ a fill up for me. I generally save a solid 10$ a month just from the T-Mobile Tuesdays app.

Unless you use a ton of data, it's by far cheaper than any of the other big competitors.

If you believe they "gave" him anything you are a marketers wet dream, every simgle bit of it is priced in and he paid for it.

yes you can, I traded in my 5x for very little less than I paid for it 2 years before.

quote:

And this is how they "give" stuff away.

Bottom line is if you use a ton of data Fi is probably not for you, if you dont then it may be, if you are a frequent international travler Fi is the only answer.

While T-mobile attempts to market itself as a international choice it is simply for vacationers, if you use it much they will cancel your service and say no thanks to your business.
