Just check out the pics in this article for examples of how well this works for taking pictures in very low light conditions.

It's amazing. The XDA APK will work on all pixel devices.

I really like the new Pixel. The main problem... Google. Call me paranoid, I just feel as if they don't have my privacy in their best interest. I say this as I type in my Chrome browser, so go figure.

All-in-all, cool feature tho...

Does it work with the original pixel?

Yes I am using it on original pixel. It installs a second camera app that has the night option so you'll need to pick the right camera app.

I used it around Vegas last night and some of the shots that would normally not come out at all look like it's day. It's amazing

Tried it out on my Pixel 2 and it is indeed pretty cool. Doesn't work well on people that are moving though. I think it's using some combination of long exposure, HDR, stitching, and possibly some machine learning to make guesses. These algorithms are only going to get better.

To those who asked how you get it: The link is towards the bottom. You have to download the file and install it. It's not in the play store.

Updates are rolling out for the official app. Just got mine. Took a picture of a dark part of my warehouse. In real life the warehouse looks more like the dark picture. The pixel pulls out stuff that I can't see with my own eyes. I even used it where I had a lot of mirrors stored, which always messes with cameras. Pretty incredible.
