I set my Google wifi up, and am now showing 2 WiFi’s. I followed several examples on how to get rid of the ATT wifi, but have been unsuccessful in doing so. Can anyone on here help with this?

If you have fiber, you probably don’t even need the att modem.

When I had at&t I had to plug my laptop directly into the at&t router/modem combo, go to a browser and entire my IP address. That would take me to my network settings. You have to login and somewhere in there is the option to turn off wireless network. Make sure you hit save at the bottom

Not if your modem has the pppoe feature which I’m pretty sure google wifi does.

ATT requires the gateway. I hate it, but they do.

I did this as well- I have the AT&T all in one modem/router and had to put it into bridge mode. Plugged in a Google Wifi unit directly to the modem and then the other Google Wifi Points found it. I remember searching how to do it and came upon this article:
LINK

Not sure if it is still relevant being that it is a couple of years old, but I did exactly this and it worked flawlessly- which is rare when I tinker with internet/wifi issues.

That's shitty and unsurprising from AT&T

I just got ATT fiber, I had the tech turn off the WiFi for me and set my router in AP mode. I didn't have it on AP mode for the first few days and I noticed that some of my devices were not connecting. Reset the router and set up as AP mode and everything has been fine for weeks now.

Appreciate it. Will give it a shot.

Right now I have 2 wifi points. An ATT one and a Google one.

I just went into my modem settings and turned 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi off on the ATT modem through 192.168.1.254 on a computer connected to the modem. This was for my Orbi but guessing it would be the same for you.

Aye, I did the same. I also think I had to enable passthrough or something or another. It's been like 2 years but flawless ever since.

Ironically, according to my Google WiFi application, my upload speeds have gotten faster (based on averages) the last 6 months. According to it:
Avg download speed the last 30 days: 450mbps
Avg upload speed the last 30 days: 827mbps

My download and upload speeds seemed about 2/3rds of those numbers a few months back.

what are you paying for?

if your paying for gig you are only getting 45% of what you are paying for.

and there lies the issue with ATT (even though some people do get it to work) I have yet to get a gateway that will work. in a perfect world, IP Pass through will use the gateway as its certificate authentication and completely passthrough to the modem attached. and you get get 100% of the speeds you pay for. Well these shitty gateways att makes you use dont dont this and it will throttle you down.

Which is why the best way to do it is to use the gateway as your modem and turn off its wifi antenna and set your mesh system as an access point.

There is somone on here that got his ubitquities to work. I have tried multiple BGW210's, 5268AC's, and NVG599s. None of them have worked with netgear modems or their Orbi System.

I don't disagree but if your suggestion is to pay Cox 120$ a month for 1gig speeds that get capped at 1TB, I'm never going to do that.

I think mine is set to passthrough but now that you mention this, I'll have to check my ATT router.

Q: What speeds are you getting by doing this? I'm on the older Google Wifi router + 2 access points, so I know they'll degrade slightly as they hop to and from each other.

you should plug a computer directly into your google wifi man hum and do a speed check. you should get in the 900s. this was in 2017 when i first got it.

your wifi speed will vary based on where you how interfearance etc. and being on 2.4 vs 5g will be a big difference as well.

Yea, I definitely get those speeds for the few items plugged in directly to my ATT Router. Guess that's your point. It degrades severely when using passthrough.

I'll try this tonight with some drinks so I don't get frustrated with ATT!

if you get that and you are usng ip passthough maybe your gateway acts how it should... but i have use 4 different BGW210s with none wotking 3 of the other, and 2 of the NV ones which doesnt eve do ip passthrough.

ig you are getting that hard wired, then check your 5g connection to see if you are getting faster wifi speeds. BTW im not an expert at all this i have just done so much trial and error and read online about it all
