Take it fwiw:

I have AT&T internet and have been streaming Hulu Live Tv for over 1 1/2 years. Lately after watching a game or long movie for more than 30 minutes it starts to hitch and pause and buffer which is infuriating. I’d have to get out of Hulu, go to fire stick home, manage applications and do a force stop and clear the cache to temporarily stop the stupid buffering. Very annoying, especially watching a live sports game.

I switched to youtubetv free trial and have zero issues the entire weekend and the picture quality is better. Plus it’s a free trial and 10 bucks cheaper the first three months. Not one single issue so far.

And yes, I don’t remember the numbers of upload vs download speed, but it is fast enough and Hulu + live TV was the only app I had this issue with.

If YouTube holds up, I’m perma switching.

Is a shite device. I grew so tired of all the buggy issues with them and finally sold them all. Hate fire sticks.

What would you suggest? Not trolling, looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I only have experience with Fire Sticks, Roku's, and Apple TV. The only one I've had consistent issues with are the Fire Sticks. They are just a buggy device.

I like my Roku Ultra and my Apple TV. Prefer the remote on the Roku, but like the interface better on the Apple TV.

I know there are quite a few that swear by the Nvidia Shield, but I have no experience with one.

OK, thanks. I’ll research those options as well.

To the anonymous downvoter here, maybe you have some productive suggestions?

We have Roku TVs and the interface is really easy to deal with and we never have any issues with YouTube TV or anything else

Before giving up on Hulu try uninstalling / re-installing the Hulu app.

Are you using a dual-core, quad-core or 4k Fire Stick?

Sharing a friend's YTTV account and I was in gulf shores for the weekend and tried to watch the GA game and was forced to allow Google/YT to access my location and then was not allowed to watch the game on CBS. "Program not available in this area" Wtf shite Google meddling horse crap.

That shite is why people pirate tv shows. frick you for changing the rules because I'm on vacation.

Luckily I have a Plex server connected to my OTA antenna at home so I just watched CBS that way.

That killed any interest in getting YTTV for myself.

I love our firesticks. Have three of them. No issues and work great.
Apple TV’s interface can die in a fire. The touchpad for a joystick sucks nuts.

No opinion on Roku

Did it again tonight. Said the Titans game on Fox (and I'm back home) wasn't available for streaming.

What a POS service this is. . People put up with this nonsense?

I'd be pissed if I never knew if the show I wanted to watch was actually going to work or not. Is there a chart or something to let me know ahead of time I'm going to be fricked by Google? clearly I'm not smart enough to be a YTTV customer.

Some programs are blacked out on mobile by the content provider. Maybe that's the problem.

In other words it's complete bullshite that YouTube TV lets you watch your local tv networks just like if you were using an antenna.

FAIL

I've had enough DRM shite from Google to last me a lifetime already. That's why I took a hammer and busted my 5 Chromecasts into little pieces.

LIVE FREE OR DIE

You do know the touch pad can be disabled in settings? I disabled it first day I got it.

Two of my three are great. The one in our bedroom is a little buggy, and I have to restart it about once a week. The one on our deck is great, and the one in the living room is good but it is on a smart TV so I mainly use the built in interface since I have it hooked up to the internet with ethernet. I've thought about trying that on the fire stick in the bedroom, but just haven't got around to running a wire to it yet. All it really gets used for is for my youngest to watch cartoons while we're getting ready in the morning.

you are mad that a device you can get for sometimes 10 bucks its streaming flawlessly? And of the sticks, Fire TV stick, rouku stick, etc are budget devices. a device you put in the tv in your shop or put in your back pack to take on a trip. They arent meant to me your workhorse device.

i have the cheapest HD homerun known to God and Man

and yes, that little PoS has 4 tuners and tunes in signals like a boss. the easiest thing on my entire network. i literally never think about it.

run antenna coax to box, plug in ethernet, plug in power, done.

when i'm feeling uber lazy i go straight to the HD homerun app on roku or firestick but i've found the app is pretty lame and signal can drop and cause it to freeze. the only nice thing is you click the app and it tunes right to the live channel you last had it on. sometimes i'm just that lazy that i don't want to click 5 places in plex to get to the local news.

when i'm accessing the hd homerun (and dvr) via plex i never have a problem so i think the hd homerun app itself is just kind-of an afterthought by silicon dust.

that reminds me, kork showed me a way to update the firmware on my hd homerun which i would have never known existed. i need to find that thread & see if i need any updates.

in short, hd homerun is a beast when it comes to pulling in channels. i compared it to other devices including tv "OTA tuners" and none of them came close to quality & keeping a signal locked.
