So we're supposed to monitor every single persons account and look for this?
Or.. or.. OR... now hear me out, this might sound kind of far out, but... the plans could be laid out in a way that these types of things don't happen, or in a way that the customer can easily see where he's overspending, without requiring a CSR to perform an official Rate Plan Analysis. Is your mind blown?
quote:Isn't that the problem we're discussing? The plans (at least the older ones) were structured in a way that made it IMPOSSIBLE to know what, exactly, you were paying for.
As for billing, know and understand everything you have with us
quote:Nobody is saying that you (or any other rep) are trying to frick customers over. We all know that it's the powers-that-be at companies like AT&T that make it hard to have an honest business relationship with them.
Again, the money you spend doesn't go into our pockets so we don't have a reason to bend you guys over like so many think.
You come in here acting like AT&T gives you all the power to help customers out wherever possible, but the reality is your job shouldn't be necessary. Think about it, man... I make some calls, I send some texts, I use some data... why in the hell does the amount I'm charged depend on a decision I made long ago? It doesn't have to be that complicated. The ONLY reason it is complicated is so that a significant portion of customers end up paying more than they have to without realizing it. And then when you correct the problem, you want a fricking cookie?

My phone sure as shite sends me texts when I'm at 90% of my available data and when I go over to charge me that extra $15/GB.
Are you saying there isn't an automated way to ensure everyone is paying the correct amount and not being "over charged"?
Google's Project Fi model is pretty straight forward.

Okay but it's a plan. You pick your plan. It's not something assigned to you.

I have talked to others and they have said the same. Though it could be because I never do the updates.

You are getting screwed if you currently have unlimited data. That is the main reason I cannot go to Next.

My phone just turned 2 as well and I swear it all of a sudden is giving me so many issues. I thought it was just me

Good lord man, do you expect Wal-Mart to pick out your shopping list so it will be the cheapest?
It is your job to get the most value for your money not the seller, it is their job to separate you from the most money possible.

Are you being serious with this question?
This is the way every business operates.
grow the frick up and take care of your money.

quote:Walmart has the items on the shelf marked with prices right there for you to see. It is extremely clear what you are getting for your money. Most cell phone plans are filled with gotchas that make it impossible to estimate the value of the product. For example, they try to pass off rollover data as a "benefit". Holy shite, I get to keep what I paid for? Only for a month, then they snatch it away. I don't recall Walmart ever coming to my house to take back items I haven't used in the period of time they deem acceptable.

I am a little over a year into my Next plan which is something like a 30 month deal. Right now I can pay $259.61 to become eligible for an upgrade, but must turn in my phone. Or, I can pay $379.32 to become upgrade eligible and own this phone.
That's exactly how the Next plan works. You are now paying full price for your phone, but it does give you the option to trade your phone in for a new one after a specific amount of time. Basically when you pay for about 3/4 of the retail price for the phone.
I use to do tech support for AT&T, but we had to take regular calls often too. When they switched to these new plans, I was shocked that people didn't realize that it's basically the same thing as the old contract plans.
