Very interested in this, looking to see who has it and if it is legit.
Worth owning?

No. I'm waiting on my Pixel, then they will be sending me the Google VR headset.
There have been posts a few months ago about generic VR headsets that you might try to look at. Does the Samsung one come with any kind of remote or anything special?

I have it and it is great. Definitely worth the $100 asking price. Let me know if you need a recommendation on a controller for it.

My brother's was $84.99. And I'm not going to lie, it's pretty freaking cool. I was giggling like a lil girl when I first put it on.
He's only had it for 2 days, so I can't speak on the longevity of it.

Is that they daydream? I can get one once my phone upgrades to nougat in the next week or so. But everything I've read said the Samsung one was better.

Until they get it to 4K quality, it's still pixelated and while immersive, you always realize it's looks pixelated.

Wife got one with her phone we don't use it much because I have to fight to take her case off - if you keep a good case on your phone you will have to take it off

I got my Daydream VR the other day and only tried it out for about an hour. I have nothing to compare it to, but I probably wouldn't pay $80 for. However, I got mine for free so I'm not complaining.

I have the small google pixel with daydream VR and you can definitely see the pixels which is disappointing. Having said that, the overall experience going from no VR to this is freaking awesome.
I use it about 1-2 hours a week, mostly watching movies/tv shows in bed while my wife watches something different.

I got the VR for free when I got my S7. I think the VR is fun as hell for a bit and with people who have never done it. It is immersive. Wear earpods and it's really good.
I took it with me for a little family camping trip a few months. Got to drinking a little, and we had the most fun watching my dad and brother and others going through Affected: The Manor. Laughed our asses off for hours. Got my dad on video. Will forever keep that video.
Problem with the Samsung VR is it is much lower quality, of course, compared to the real systems. The apps and games are pretty limited right now. For $100 or so, it does supply you with lots of fun.

I have one and yes, I also need a rec on a controller. There's so many of them - which ones are economical yet not shitty?

It's a hit for parties. I have two. That were free with phones. Way better than the cheap ones you can buy like Google cardboard. Not as great as rift. I find its much better than Google daydream at least at this point.
