Is Project Fi Still Complete Garbage?

I had it for a little over a year from FEB 2016 - MAY 2017. Have they made any improvements or is the Sprint / US cellular / T-Mobile switchovers still non-existent? WiFi calling still terrible? Absolutely horrendous support? Constantly missing SMS/MMS messages?
Any improved outlook for this?

Yes, garbage. My wife had it. Back on AT&T.

Same back to AT&T with zero complaints

I haven't had any issues but I'm in Austin.
Worked pretty good in Lima, Cusco, and some outlying villages too which was surprising. I had service at Machu Picchu in spots. Will get to try international service again in South Africa in March.
I wouldn't know if I missed texts so can't answer that but don't think so.

When I lived in Austin it worked good as well, but hell if you went to Lockhart or god forbid Fredericksburg zero service. I even had signal spy and would force carrier switchover to little avail.

Haven't been out there yet. Just New Braunfels.
I did however stream music videos off YouTube like an idiot up 35 from there coming back from Wurst Fest without issue, if that illuminates anything.
It works well for me considering I have WiFi at work and home so my data is very low until I do something dumb like that.

I didn't have any technical problems with it but went back to T-MOBILE earlier this year once my data use went up and needing a third line. FI only makes sense if you are using almost no cellular data. The price on multi line unlimited plans is hard to beat now.

I don't understand anyone's issue unless you live in the sticks. Have had for 2 yrs now with minimal issues. I am in ravaged Puerto Rico right now and I have tremendous service.

Minimal problems with mine in 2 years as well.

what? it's arguably the best customer service in the industry
I left for AT&T a few months ago. WiFi calling and network switching were terrible.
Unless you love google, prioritize customer service and/or travel internationally a lot, I see no reason to go to Fi. It was unique when it launched, there are tons of similar services now, often cheaper.

Ya, once/if I start chewing up data I'll go to another service on price.
But right now I'm paying less than $40 a month vs $90 or whatever so I'll call it a win for now.
I'm sure I'll hand over all those savings the minute I have to buy a $1,000 phone for the new service.

Theeres like 20 better mvno options than this crap. I can’t gather why so many want it to work when they bury their heads in the Sand to cheaper plans on better networks with more data

yes. I never used data and used wifi everywhere I went.
25/month was nice but was limited when the wifi was out.

Name a single one better for international use please, I would love to know about it.
Pro tip: it does not exist

You've used TMO? I travel internationally every year and get free data and texting and calls back to the USA for $0.20/min. What does Fi have?

They will drop you with a quickness if you use it very much, it is only for the occasional travler on vacation, also they throttle the hell out of you abroad.

Same but data is $10 gb, but is as fast as connection allows, wifi calling is either free or super cheap depending on country called.
I spend at least 200 days a year outside the US, Tmobile is a no go.

I love the fact that no matter where I fly in the world when I land I get a message saying Project Fi has you covered here. About the only places in the world that it doesn't work are the 2 countries I have no desire to visit, Iran and N Korea.

That’s probably because Google’s Project Loon, the hot air ballon based LTE service, is the reason you have signal at all there in PR.
