That’s too much stuff to do. I pay, I turn on my tv, it opens to the last channel I was watching, I get everything. Works great for me.

i'm not sure whats hard; once its setup you have a program guide integrated into plex which is the center of my digital life already, ability to DVR on 2 tuners and the free plex app runs on virtually every tv and mobile device in existence.

I messed with plex but could never get the channels to load, so I gave up.

At one time I had a huge plex server, but I have no clue where that old hard drive is.

It's fine. It also works far more seamlessly across any device than tivimate, which is the highest priority in my house. Single pane of glass for all media consumption

this.

plexamp is my sole music source and plex not only has all my movies & tv but also personal sony cam video collection of my kids growing up in the 90s i converted.

i like having that kind of control.

Ya I don’t think live tv is a big priority for these guys but a good middleware fixes all that and at least gives you a 10 year old digital cable box experience and works on Roku.
Actually better because the channels are where you want them.

Also thanks y’all for the help here. I had no idea this stuff could be so good.

Plex pass is now a bigger cost than the IPTV.

Can get like 3 years of IPTV for the cost of it

Is it really that much better than jellyfin now-a-days?

I want to try it mainly because our outdoor tv has no Jellyfin app and I I need the actual tv remote to enable a Bluetooth speaker w/ volume control so adding a second is painful especially when it’s mostly used in the pool and spa.

i'll leave that question for kork or somebody.

ive never used jellyfin but there were definitely some limitations back in the day that pushed me to plex, esp. w/ having lifetime pass already.

but i'm not so crazy that i wouldn't consider moving to another system if plex decided to screw everyone over.

I haven’t found it to be really reliable when it comes to sports streams. I haven’t found three services right now and it’s kind of hit or miss on of the game will pause and skip nonstop.

If anyone has tried both ipt and cw, is one more user friendly than the other?

I have both of them. I like the interface to choose the channels on IPT, but I have found CW to have almost zero buffering

Thanks, that helps. Reliability would be preferable. I think I'd be interested in trying cw..are you able to refer?

Nope changed my mind. Switched to a really great XC service, moved back to jellyfin.xtream plugin and everything is perfect now.

No more crazy middleware. Just the popular proxy with API enabled both ways.

I tried building out links with the last service and while it was nice having all metadata cached, XC is the way to go. I think link building is the only VOD option with Plex and the available tools for that aren’t great.

Edit: jelly is caching my XC content but only as I browse, not one giant 6 hour background task. Even better.
