Honestly my last couple have been mostly subsidized by AT&T trade in promos. I currently have a 14 Pro Max that I'm paying less than $10 a month for after credits kick in.
During Christmas they had a special where you could trade an old iPhone 11 in and they would give you an $800 credit. I bought a working one on swappa for $250 and turned that in. It basically bought the 14 pro max price down to a relatively reasonable price.
You really have to work the specials and deals to make the price worth it.

Same. Traded in a 13 pro max for a 14 pro max at the cost of $3 more per month over two years. A whopping $72 total.

I have jump with T-Mobile and can jump to a new phone 2x a year and just pay the payments usually broken up into 24 months if I jump they pay the phone off I’m trading in. I’ll never buy a new phone outright to me that’s silly since they are always upgrading the hardware which I like to have the latest and greatest. To each their own though I’m not trying to make a phone last 10 years

Is that new with the 15 or did they move to that with the 14? (Guy you replied to asked the difference between the 13 and 15). What else is supposed to come with the 15? Did they announce or hint at anything during their last conference or was that mainly for
their VR glasses/headset/whatever they call it?

I literally came here to ask about what’s coming with the 15 and what y’all think about the 14 (I heard it sucked when it 1st came out and the fact that Verizon literally sends me a promotion text 3 times a week practically begging me to trade mine in for it. First it was $350 off for newer phone in good condition. Then it was $850 for any phone in good condition. Then any phone in ANY condition. Now they’ve thrown in some HBO MAX/Disney+/Hulu/and a partridge in a pair tree promo free for like 3 months. Coming off as super needy. I was holding out for like a mobile blow job, which can’t be too far off at this rate.
But I’ve always been hesitant to commit to technology, even if money isn’t really a factor. It’s the FOMO as the kids say. I just have a hard time pulling the trigger on something that I know will be obsolete basically by the time I get out of the store. I kept a heavy arse 50” 720p plasma Samsung for like 6 years when I could have gotten a 60” 4K LED for half the price and half the weight. (In fairness, it was a damn good tv—don’t think I’ll ever get anything that’s not a Samsung). I think I’m still traumatized by dropping $3,500 on a Canon XL1S just out of college, and about 2 years later digital SLRs exploded and you could pretty much shoot better video on a decent one of those than my fancy camera (still a cool camera—Soderbergh shot at least one feature with it, they shot that Katie Holmes movie “Pieces of You” on it, and some other things, but they had a shite ton of accessories that I couldn’t afford). Anyway, my $3,500 “investment” dropped about 2 grand in value almost overnight and I haven’t gotten over it. I think you can get one for like $200 bucks on EBay now.
So I’ve been holding off on getting a new phone for a while. I’ve got the 8. And they’re not meant to last this long. Every software update slows it down and continues the slowly murdering of my battery. Had to take my case off because the screen couldn’t sense my touch with that tiny layer of plastic on it. Then immediately I dropped it and shattered the back, which voids the $29 repair option that I’ve been paying for for no fricking reason apparently. Then, out of nowhere a couple of months ago, people could only hear me if I had my Bluetooth ear buds in. I could hear them and anything else from the speaker, so it works, and I can use Siri, so the mic obviously works, but the ear pods are the only way people can hear me. And only Bluetooth—plug-in pods don’t work. I’ve given up on trying to make sense of it, but it’s pissing me off having to scramble for the damn buds anytime somebody calls me.
I know, I know, CSB and Dear Facebook and all that shite. I don’t Dear FB, I Dear Tigerdroppings (
) and needed to vent a bit after finally dropping my phone off the coffee table last night, not even 2 feet off the ground, and shattering my screen into that beautiful spider pattern. Been picking little pieces of glass out of my thumbs all goddamn night and day.
I’ve got insurance, but don’t want to drop $225 or whatever it is on a 3-year-old model. I’ve been trying to hold out till the 15 launches in September to either see if it’s got hardware upgrades I’d use or just get the 13 or 14 for less money. But I don’t think I can hold out any longer.
Any advice? On the difference in the 13, 14, and 15 features and if they’re worth it? Thanks for indulging this long-winded post. But I can’t be mad at ya if you TL;DR’d me.

I upgraded to the 14 Pro Max from the XR and I love the 14 Pro Max. Over the last 8 months I've been to St. Lucia and Australia twice. The Pro Res photos and videos are incredible on this phone.

i bought a 13 mini from T-Mo awhile back on a trade in, and since I hate those big-arse screens I don’t see myself upgrading anytime soon.
My rec for you is, skip the numbered updates and grab an SE. same form factor as your 8 but with 13 specs (including 5G). And $429 brand new before any discounts/promotions.

Just wait 6 months and your carrier will run a good trade in deal.
Got my daughter a regular 14 back in Feb and it was $5 a month with a trade in worth $200 or more. We have AT&T
