Tried reset using up and down buttons then power button - all that happens is logo goes off, then comes back on, still frozen. Was fine when I went to bed at midnight last night, woke up at 0400 and has been the same since. Any suggestions?

Yep, been fighting my wife's 11 since she got it (new). ALL updates fail and corrupts the IOS.
Several restores, with update via ITunes, have to take place before one will finally take. Hope you back up daily.

edit: turn off auto-update. Let it download but you need to manually install so you can back up first.

Make sure you're doing it right.
Hold and release, up button.
Hold and release, down button.
Hold power button until logo appears - then release.

I had something like this happen to me when I got a brand new iPhone 6 plus back in 2015. Screen would flicker and become unresponsive. Phone was brand new in perfect condition and Apple was going to charge me to fix it.

That was the day I switched to Android and never looked back.

Still dead, waiting to discharge and see what coming back from a dead battery does. Pretty confident I was doing hard reset correctly and had done it multiple times. Have a new phone already. Nature of my business precludes me being without one unfortunately. I usually go 4 years or so with an iPhone, the 11 pro in question only gave me 30 months of service.

Make sure your iOS is updated with the latest version.

It is a brick with an illuminated apple logo on the screen, can't get to anything on the phone to see what version it is running.

nope - let it run down, pressed the power button, bot the red dead battery, plug me in logo, plugged up, tried the three button hard reset and went right back to being a brick with an illuminated apple logo on the screen.

Got a new phone, all my data is safe on the new one. Still have some hope of fixing it to trade in or pass down to one of the kids, doesn't look good.

Try plugging the phone into a computer and put the device in recovery mode with volume up, volume down, and holding the side button until the device has turned back on. On a Mac it will alert you to a device in recovery mode. On a PC I believe you need to fire up iTunes. I suspect the device had an issue with an update. Sometimes an update can expose a problem with the software on the device, sometimes it can expose a hardware issue such as liquid damage. You can try the update again from the computer. If that fails you can try to restore it from the computer. I would try updating first to preserve the data on the device. If you have any questions you can find apple support documents for recovery mode. If you need additional assistance you can reach out to AppleCare and they can walk you through the steps or can make you an appointment at an authorized service provider.

Tried that on two different macbooks, no dice. Doesn't register in a finder window. Got everything onto the new phone from icloud backup, now its about trying to get the device to boot up so I can wipe it and sell it or let one of my kids have it as an upgrade.

Thanks for taking the time to read the post and making a suggestion to help.

Sooo...I left it plugged in to a charger, and just checked it - was going to try putting it into DFU mode again, and it had booted again. In the process of wiping it, then see where it goes from there. Thanks again for suggestions.
