Sorry, the thought I had in my brain didn’t translate to my post.
I was trying to ask how would he hook up source devices to the Beam if your TV doesn’t have ARC. But it didn’t come out that way.
CAD currently ARC is problematic. Once all that gets worked out and it’s more compatible with things like baluns then maybe optical will go away. But today all the new TVs I deal with thankful have optical because a lot of shite wouldn’t work right if we had to rely on ARC.

A recommendation from you for an alternative to Sonos.

I don’t really understand arc. Is it just not reliable? I have a fire tv 4K hooked into my tv (no hdmi arc) at the moment. The beam seems perfect for what I need and assume I would use an optical cable to connect now.

Polk Audio’s new sound bar is Alexa-enabled and compatible with 4K TVs
quote:
Polk Audio has announced a voice-controlled sound bar with Alexa built-in. Polk envisions the Command Bar to be at the heart of the smart home theatre that provides “rich audio” for movies and music. Polk Audio’s parent company is DEI Holdings (its sound division is known as Sound United), which also owns audio brands Definitive Technology and Marantz. Polk has previously introduced sound bars that work with Google Home while supporting 5.1 surround sound. This new Command Bar features integrated far-field microphones on top that can control volume, mute, bass, sound modes, and source selection with voice commands through Polk’s Connect Skill. There’s an HDMI port that’s designed to fit Amazon Fire TV and other HDMI streaming devices with wide form factors. The rear panel also has a built-in USB port, which can also power Fire TV devices. With Alexa, the Command Bar can also control lights, locks and other smart home gadgets, as well as Amazon Alexa-supported services like Amazon Music and Audible. Polk says support for more music services will be announced later in the year.
$299.95--Ships June 30

Thank you....I actually am genuinely curious as to the alternatives. I love sonos but am always open to new tech. I will definitely check out the Polk system.

sonos is more than just a soundbar. if you're just buying a soundbar i probably wouldn't have gone the sonos route at all.
but like in the other thread, once you've bought into an ecosystem its easier to stick with it and sonos has given me no reason to jump ship so far.

Does it have Bluetooth?
never understood why anyone would want this out of a premium sound system. bluetooth sucks and once i set up my sonos system all my little bluetooth speaker bricks ended up in the bottom of a drawer somewhere.
eta i pull them out when we go to the beach and that's about it.

slow your roll a bit partner. 'music ecosystem' is a far easier pill to swallow and be under a company's thumb than an entire computing solution.
cad limits the weight of yokes he is willing to suffer under.
