Have you spoken to retention department about the switch? They'll offer you the best rates of any department under Cox and lock in that price for a year or two.. no penalty if you back out either..

As far as constant issues, get a tech out then.

Any ways, Just go with whichever has the best current offer IMO.

People hate Cox like crazy around here, but I just don't see it.

I use to have some issues with not receiving a few channels.. They'd come out to fix whatever they could around the house.. then I just call in and ask for a credit back.. and they were so cool.. they credited me back an entire's month worth of cable.. even though I was really only not getting like 2 channels for a week or two..

Whenever my promotion expires, I get upset because the rate goes up.. but then I just call that retention department and they wind up getting me an even better deal than before. All companies promotions eventually expire.. but Cox is cool because if you were to change your mind they won't charge you a fee like other companies. Just clear all that with them.. and they guarantee your rate won't go up when they lock in your new promotion.

Any ways, if you are that set on the change. Check out this article comparing Dish vs Direct TV

Well, we're keeping cox cable because it provides the best internet and TV in our area. Yes, the price is highly this is one area among our purchasing decisions in which quality is more important than price.

I got a killer rate to switch to Direct TV with internet and home phone at 112.00 a month for the first year. Good bye cox.

I would stick with Cox. I know they are higher, but like some say, call and speak with the Retention department. Just tell them you are switching to DirecTV for X dollars a month, and you want to see if they can match it. They will give you the lowest prices they can.

I switched to DirecTV to save money and I regretted it. I just switched back to Cox. I don't care what anyone says about signal quality. We had a clear line from our dish to the sky, not a tree in sight for over half a mile. Anytime it got real cloudy or rained we lost signal, or it tiled so much we couldn't see it. We had techs come out to "fix it" but nothing changed.

Also, DirecTV doesn't get Cox Sports which we missed mainly for baseball. I do believe that Dish has Cox Sports though, at least they used to.

I can't wait for Google Fiber. That is going to be the best thing around!!!

I think they might be tightening up the retention policies. I've had a few friends try the switching song and dance and cox said....

Bye......

I've always been able to talk them down. Seems like they are getting tough on cutting their price.

It's a "satellite" signal. How the frick do you think it gets to the TV? Lol

I've had Dish for over 15 years. Love their DVR. I can get you a $50 referral credit if you'd like.

We just switched to Cox from Uverse. If saving money on your bill and reliability are your reasons, I don't know that I'd try for Uverse even if offered in your area.

I know how the signal works. I was simply referring to the 99.9% claim that you never lose signal even in clouds or rain even with the new dishes. Also, if you want to get technical, the satellite signal gets to the TV via coax, not a satellite signal.
