Movies and TV Shows -> Netflix and HBOGO (HBOGO will be offered stand alone without cable sometime this year) Plus free broadcast. I don't think Hulu Plus is worth it, but if they happen to have the broadcast shows you like, you might consider it, because it could save you the headache of setting up a DIY DVR system to record broadcast tv shows.
Sports -> Well, you can get the Sunday NFL games free over the air with an antenna. As for ESPN, Dish Network is offering something called Sling TV that costs a good bit less than normal cable/satellite. It gives you access to a small number of channels over the internet. Some of the channels you probably won't want, but soon it will include all of the ESPN networks including the SEC network. You're still paying for some channels you probably have no interest in, but probably not as many as you would be otherwise.

I just got rid of U-Verse. Tired of paying 250 a month

I get all my entertainment via internet, Netflix, Amazon Prime, AppleTV and iPad.
If you have the patience to figure it out once, you can get anything you want on the iPad and shoot it up to the big screen with AppleTV.

I just went from not having cable back to having it.
After 1 year, my regular rate for 105 mbps went to $70. For $80, I got HBO+Showtime+ 220 channels, + a Hulu type thing, + 2 HD DVRs for 1 year.
Even at the new customer price, I was looking at $50 for internet + $10 for Hulu.

All content is free, if you know how to search for it.
I remember the first time I discovered that "free" content several years ago. I was watching a first-run movie (with Russian subtitles) and people kept walking in front of the screen. I'm cheap but not that cheap.

What is a first-run movie?
And it sounds like you illegally downloaded said movie. I'm talking about streaming it.

You should know what you're talking about before saying stupid things.
You can find everything in 1080p these days

There is a growing trend to offer a la carte access to streaming channels. ESPN, HBO and CBS are examples of this kind of service;
Wait.. How do I sign up ala carte for any of these above?

It looks good, but I'm tired of dealing with AT&T. The equipment they gave me for my U-Verse was crap. I'm just over them.

One that's still playing in theaters.

I was streaming it from one of the fly-by-night movie channels on PlayOn.

Not even worth discussing this with you if you thought I was talking about finding movies that were still in the theaters.

I love how cord cutters rely on all their friends and relatives to let them use their log ins to stream cable services or use apps.
