Hello fellow tech baws,

I have put together at least 5 machines in my lifetime and this is the first time where im pulling my hair out.

I have a X99 Sabertooth TUF Mobo that refuses to accept new RAM I have bought.

The RAM is corsair 2400Mhz (I also have 3000Mhz) 4x8GB (quad channel) 1.2V.
The RAM currently in the machine is corsair 2133Mhz (O.C to 2666Mhz) 4x4GB (quad channel) 1.2V.

Now I have the currently set in A1/B1/C1/D1 DIMMs (there are 8 DIMM) set to XMP 2.0.

When I try to install the new pair either 3000/2400 my memory alarm kicks and the machine doesn't post. I hit the memOK! button on the Mobo and it just puts the machine in an infinite restart loop still not posting.

I have considered disabling the XMP profiles to see if maybe that works since the XMP 2.0 profile is clearly not working.

No bent pins, RAM is 100% seated in the slot.

Does anyone have any input into what I could be missing?

Edit: I have tried to just do the new ram only and it still alarmed.

Try to post with 1 or 2 sticks, and try all sticks in a a combination of 1 or 2 instead of all 4 at once. You may just have defective RAM (which rarely happens, but it happens).

If that doesn't work, I'd try resetting your BIOS and seeing if that gets it to post.

If that doesn't work, try a different memory speed. See if it will post with the stock 2133/2400 DDR4 Speeds.

I don't claim to be an expert on debugging memory issues, but I've built 3 PCs and helped fix a few others. Maybe someone else with more memory debugging experience can chime in here.

EDIT: I just re-read and you are mixing 3000/2400 speeds on the new sticks? I've never tried mixing memory speeds, but try to see if all 4 will post with the lowest rated speed in your combo (2400).

The current working pair base SPD is 2133Mhz but operating at 2400Mhz with XMP1.0 and 2666Mhz with XMP2.0

My current intuition (I have not tried it yet) is to keep XMP1.0 set and install new 2400Mhz pair.

Therefore,

A1/B1/C1/D1 = (4x4GB) 2400 O.C original working RAM : 16GB Total
A2/B2/C2/D2 = (4x8GB) 2400 SPD (base freq) New RAM : 32GB Total

Total GB: 48GB

EDIT: Using the X99 manual I have used the manufacturer suggested RAM set up with the new RAM (2400 AND 3000) and still alarming. THis is why I think it may be an XMP profile issue or BIOS.

I totally skipped over the fact that you had an X99 motherboard with 8 slots total

Try resetting the bios to default and clearing CMOS with the battery

Is there any way you accidentally got registered ECC DIMMS? I bought from a user online last year and he accidentally sent me those.. they don’t post in desktop boards.

Did you check to see if the RAM you bought was compatible? My boss had a problem with his and I looked up his RAM and it wasn't on the compatibility list. Told him to go to Best Buy and find a set I knew worked and it worked for him.

I specifically source pc part picker and the x99 manual to make sure

No according to the manual the RAM light beeping nonstop means ram socketed wrong. However, I have literally pulled out all the ram and inserted into the manufacturer suggested slots and still the fricking beep beep beep.

I have never in a million years come across this

Ima about to say frick it and RMA both pair of RAM back to newegg, buy a new board and chip and 64GB of RAM. THATS HOW ANGRY I AM
