Having a Tablo I stopped using Hulu but signed back up with this deal. I think this is in response to Netflix's price increase to draw people over to Hulu.

Hulu does have quite a bit of non OTA content which was the main reason I signed back up, along with the deal.

I don’t see it listed as an option, but what if one wants the LiveTV option + Commercial free? I want to give it a go, but would hate to be stuck watching commercials on non-Live programming.

Have they fixed their UI yet?

No, this is their low end deal. But for me this is a good deal to just get to the content they have at a very good price point.

Have not used Hulu in a couple years so I will find out and report back.

Not sure what is fixed as I haven't been a customer for long, but about a month ago, they completely updated the UI

How is the stream quality of live tv? Comparable to PS Vue?

I signed up for the week trial to see how I liked it.

The app on Firestick would randomly close out and go to the stick homepage. Not sure what that’s about. I thought the stream quality is a little less than Vue but could be imagining it. Also couldn’t find a true “guide” for the live tv.

I’ll be sticking with Vue for now.

In fairness though, my stick has been acting up randomly ever since the new update, but much more so with the Hulu app.

I've always looked at Hulu as being centered around network shows, is that true?

Yep, via Wiki

"Hulu (stylized as hulu) is an American subscription video on demand service owned by Hulu LLC, a joint venture with The Walt Disney Company (through Disney–ABC Television Group) (30%),[8] 21st Century Fox (through Fox Entertainment Group) (30%), Comcast (through NBCUniversal) (30%), and as of August 10, 2016, Time Warner (through Turner Broadcasting System) (10%, minority stake).[2][9]

It is primarily oriented towards television series, carrying current and past episodes of series from its owners' respective television networks and other content partners. Previously it was divided into free and paid tiers, with the free service limited in the amount of content accessible by users and accessible via PC only, and a paid service with a larger library of content and accessed via Hulu applications for various mobile and connected devices. The subscription service is, in turn, divided into advertising-supported and mostly ad-free tiers. In 2016, Hulu spun out its free content into a joint venture with Yahoo! called Yahoo! View[10] and launched a live television streaming service on May 3, 2017."

Thanks, I had that in my head (and I've never been very interested in Hulu as a result), but I wasn't sure if the focus had changed over the years.

All the streaming service should take a page from Facebook and copy the competition (Netflix). Not saying Netflix is perfect, but by far the best I've used.

Am I the only one that likes the Hulu design and interface? Makes it easy for me to find curated content for kids or sports or live tv.

I dunno, I dig it after having used it. But it’s definitely not traditional.

Maybe it was completely built around their new live tv service, but I didn't subscribe to that. It made finding anything a chore, so I canceled my sub.

Yes, yes you are the only one.

The new design annoys me and is NOT easier to use.

I started playing with it last night. Once I figured out how to search and view new shows and add them to favorites it was not a big deal for to get around.

I forgot to record Inhuman on my Tablo and was nice to start watching that.

I gave Hulu Live a whirl last night. The 30fps is very off-putting compared to Vue's 60fps. Definitely sticking with Vue.

That confirmed? The Live TV looks damn near perfect on my 55inch TV. I can't really tell a difference between Hulu Live TV and my normal ATT UVerse TV.

It's different, that's for sure. But give it 2-3 days and see if you don't like it.

It took me a few days to get used to it and now it's grown on me an I like it more than the "traditional" menu layout. Well, I like it more than ATT UVerses layout I should say.
