Hp printer not printing black ink

Hp 6500a plus will not print black ink - I've tried everything agjusting print quality, priming in black scale only, downloaded print drivers, aligned and cleaned print cartridges, tried to print from another network computer, even removed and installed another black ink cartridge- printers are cheap I guess time to pitch it.

It's probably the print head. Those HPs have disposable print head cartridges. Not sure about the 6500, but in my 8500 there were two head cartridges, one for black and yellow and one for magenta and cyan. The black compartment is likely clogged. You can attempt to clean it (Google), but it's a messy process and requires some special solution and refill ink. Best bet is to replace it for the ridiculous price they charge if you really want to keep the printer.

Yes it's more than probably 5 years old. I noticed Costco had some comparable models for about $99 - wifi etc. I wish I could find a model that uses the 920 type cartridges- I might be out of luck.

Yes I have done that and even to realign the print head with zero results. Maybe I'll just use a bigger hammer
