How do I sync up new single replacement AirPod?

I come seeking assistance.
My puppy chewed up one of my Airpods...true story.
That being said, I have an Android phone, but still think the Airpods were the best buy on the market, and they work just fine with the Android phone.
So I buy the single replacement Airpod but my issue is that I can't get it to sync up with the Bluetooth on my Android phone. I read about the replacement potentially being on a different firmware, and it's a "simple fix" to sync it up to your Iphone, and it'll automatically update the firmware so the 2 Airpods match. But again, I don't have any Iphone.
Anyone ever have this issue or know of any possible fixes? Any other time, I'd just grab someone's Iphone at work or whatever and get that quick fix, but I haven't been to work since March lol. Also, apparently all 4 neighbors I know and text as well as the only 1 or 2 friends I've hung out with since quarantine...not a single one of them have an IPhone.
I do have a Mac laptop, i thought maybe that would do the trick similarly to how the Iphone could sync it up, but I tried, and it will not work or connect to the new replacement Airpod.

I have an iPhone so I've never had to do this, but I'd try going into Bluetooth on your phone and removing the AirPods from your remembered devices. Put both of them back in the holder, keep the top open, and press the button on the back. Ideally, your phone would pick them up and you can re-pair.

Pressing/holding the button in the back won't get it to flash white with the new airpod in the case. If I take the new Airpod out, then I can sync up the old one like you said in the normal way.
But something is off with the new one, likely not synced on the firmware that the old one is.

I should've figured you tried that. But now I see what you're saying about probably needing an Apple product to update the firmware.
I'm looking at an article now that says the charging case must be plugged in and charging while you do this. Have you tried that? The next step mentions needing an Apple device, though.. so I'm not sure it would make a difference.
ETA: I'm just mystified that you all 6 of your friends/neighbors have Androids. What you got against us blue texters?!

Obviously could just be a bad Airpod, but I really gotta get to someone with an IPhone to try that first.

I started having crackling in my right airpod pro and had a warranty replacement. I deleted the former pair and set them up as I did when I had them new.
It worked perfectly.

Yeah due to the time of when the replacement airpods were manufactured and the last time your airpods were paired to an iOS device there has been a number of firmware updates. There may be two options for you.
The first option is finding the nearest iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to sync with for up to complete the update. Any store where there are demo units should allow you to pair with them, though with COVID your mileage may vary. There are occasions where even when an iOS device is present that firmware update may fail. And further repairs under the 90-day replacement warranty may be necessary.
For the second option, you may be able to reach out to AppleCare with your predicament and they may be able to work with you since the airpods aren’t pairing.

Honestly I would just take them to the nearest Apple store. If they can't get them to work they may just replace them both for you.

Just dealt with this problem; right airpod pro was crackling; apple sent a replacement but it was on a newer firmware than the old one. I ended up having to pair them individually and then "forget" them. Left them sitting in the case next to my iPhone for a half hour and the old airpod updated firmware to the newer version. I was then able to pair them together.

How about tracking/finding one airpod that is in the case? From everything I've seen, you can make the individual airpods beep, but they have to be out of the case. My two year old got ahold of my wife's case yesterday. I think she left it on the bathroom counter top after her zoom meeting with work yesterday morning. When she was looking for them last night, I found the left one under the bed. When I track them using her iphone, the right one never makes a sound, which makes me think it is in the case somewhere. Where a 2 year old might have taken it and put it down, who knows.
