Honeywell takes a page from Nest

It's the best of both worlds! Honeywell performance and reliability with the styling of Nest.

None of those are smart or have the same functionality. This was Honeywell answer to Nest when it came out.

I'm suggesting Nest made the smart thermostat sexy. Honeywell units always had a utilitarian design before the Lyric.

article is semi-accurate because any thermostat hooked up to a smart hub can do WAAAAAY more than out-of-the-box.
he mentions the lyric & nest don't have multi-zone sensors but yet admits they work with wink & other hubs that support changing the temp based on a separate temp sensor in another room.
at the very least he could have used an asterisk when discussing this feature because it makes him look like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

It supports multiple thermostats, however it is not able to control multiple zones, which makes multiple thermostats kind of obsolete and nonsensical (unless you want to raise room temperature everywhere if you for example your bedroom is too cold). If you need multiple zone control support you need to get evohome or tado.

What is your budget? I like the ecobee but am a cheap bastard and for $70 those old school touchscreen Honeywell's can't be beat.
Ecobee will have sexier software but you have to think which you think will still be around and supported in 10 years too.
Nest have been real assholes to their customers.

I got a Nest in Feb and love it but all the recent news is making me wonder if I should sell it while it is worth something and buy somehting else. I think what is keeping me from doing that is that nothing else really blows me out of the water.

I really like the alarm dot com thermostat. It's an ugly SOB but it integrates nicely with the security system and I really like the energy managment features especially when paired up with the remote sensors. However it is costly.

My brother installed a filtrete wifi thermostat at my parents house back in the mid 2000s. seems that was ahead of its time but I'm curious who marketed the first wifi thermostat.

frick a learning thermostat. What if you get this freeze 3 days in a row then a warm front comes in? enjoy a hot house and having to go turn it down for the next few nights.
