Looking to setup a home theatre room. We are finishing out an attic space so I have a blank canvas to set it up how I want with electrical etc.

Any recommendations on projectors, screens, or anything else that is good to have installed now during the build out?

I already have a Sonos speaker setup with a bar/sub/satellite speakers. Will have them run outlets in ceiling in back of room to hook those up to.

Looking at a max budget of $1500 for projector/screen setup which looks reasonable based off Amazon search but don’t know the quality of it. Will not be used for gaming just TV/movies/sports if that matters.

In the past I've found peojectorreviews.com to be really helpful.

I've been burned before by running a long HDMI cable before testing it, so that would be my advice.

I assume you're looking for a 1080 projector? You're not getting anything high quality at your price point. Maybe look for used. For some reason projector tech does not get cheaper like TVs. Bottom price for something decent is right under $3k.

Damn so everything on Amazon is crap? There is a bunch under $600 all with good reviews.

Note: I don’t need high tech cinema quality, it’s just watching football and movies.

I have a theater with a projector. They break often and all of the ones you're looking at are Chinese junk. They won't last. If I were you I would look at Epson. They are the most dependable. Just found a good deal on a refurb. $1399 Epson 4k

Not going to lie, I would just look at a 98" or 105" TV and call it a day. TCL and Hisense both have 98/100 inch TVs that are 3.6 roentgen for around the $1500 price point.

I had an epson many years ago, 720p/1080i and it was awesome. The immersion from the size of the screen. I had little over 130" screen in 16:9. For some reason now projectors cost more money and TV's are getting cheaper.

If I were to get a projector today it would be an epson that is really bright with the long life bulbs, 3000+ hours. It won't be the best at anything but it will be good enough at everything. The size is the wow factor.

I would do something like power sound audio for speakers and subs. Do it right.

Sonos in a big time theatre will be super disappointing

Also, if you are being serious about this home theater, ceiling locations work for atmos/spatial speakers only. Do NOT use ceiling locations for any of the base 7.1 speaker channels.

This. A projector has limited use but a smart tv gives you many more options, better picture and is more reliable.
