I’m in the market for a new home printer. I mainly want to use it for simple printing and making copies. Any suggestions for something reliable that won’t crap out in a few months? Thanks.

Can’t complain about my HP officejet. Scans, copies, faxes.

every inkjet printer on earth is a piece of shite. all of them. if you do any serious amount of printing at all, invest in a laserjet. yeah they are more expensive, but toner based printing is SOOOOOO much more reliable than inkjets.

I just got my grandparents this one:

HP - ENVY Photo 7155 Wireless All-In-One Instant Ink Ready Printer - Black

On sale at Best Buy for $89.99 (normally $149.99). Nothing fancy but serves the purpose you're looking for.

It also just has two ink cartridges - one black and the other is the multicolor - instead of the 3 separate color ones.

Nothing more true than this.

I have an HP Color LaserJet 2600n that is probably pushing 10 years now and it still prints like a charm. The only thing it doesn't do well is print photos, but I don't print many photos to begin with so it isn't a big deal.

Best info you'll get here.

I've had a dell e310dw for about 5 years now (paid $40 I think) and it's still churning on the same ink. I print a few times a week, but not much at a time.

I bought a Brother HL2270DW (prints only) in January 2011 and upgraded last month to a Brother HLL2395DW which copies, scans, etc.

DO NOT buy an ink jet. They just end up plugging up and buying more ink is expensive and the sh!t is messy anyway. Unreliable as hell.

Brother printers generally have the cheapest ink and refills.

The software and hardware are easily as easy to use as any other brand.

A case of each color refills of ink is about $20 FYI.
