all from iphone users.

apparently i was getting a few over the last week but there was a whole flood that just overwhelmed my phone just now.

apple

no i didn't reboot my phone or do anything. it was just sitting here on the desk. missed a few texts and a few people thought i was being rude by not replying but thankfully nothing important.

wtf apple. i'm just a dirty google pixel user i guess.

I know a few ppl who switched back to iPhone from a Pixel bc of a similar issue. They apparently missed some pretty important texts that they either never received or received days later.

Sounds like an issue with your phone and not theirs.

Android phones have been way behind iphone when it comes to messaging for a long time.

Was it new iPhone 12 users, iOS 14.2 had a message bug and they may have just updated to 14.2.1 that fixed it for the range of 12 phones. Older phones shouldn’t have been effected by it.

could have been shitty tmobile. not sure. my daughter also didn't get several photos & texts I sent her from my android to her iphone and she was in chattanooga.

the other texts were from south carolina, nashville, tullahoma & goodlettsville so i don't think it was any particular cell tower causing the issue.

FIFY.

They give you the best bang for your buck when it comes to cheap and mid-tier phones.

I would stay away from their expensive flagship lines. Motorola is known for their lack of updates and underwhelming hardware when compared to other flagship phones.

SMS is a straight forward technology. If there is an issue, it's likely from his carrier.

It is completely insecure. I am under the impression that Apple hates SMS. There was an interview where an senior Apple engineer, he was lamenting on how terrible SMS is and was saying to at least use an app called Signal if you have an android device.

How so? Someone would have to be extremely elaborate to steal your messages. If someone is smart enough to get your sms, then they're smart enough to get your WhatsApp, facebook, and iMessage texts.

Apple just wants to suck people into their ecosystem. The reality is that their own messaging service is pretty antiqued by today's standards.

An apple engineer could easily fix this issue by releasing iMessage on Android. Or at the very least implement RCS on iPhones so some of the sms limitations are fixed.

But my guess is that they don't care. The intention of that interview was too sell more iphones instead of creating an actual solution to the messaging fragmentation/divide.

I disagree. All that data is vulnerable. It just requires underlying infrastructure to be compromised.

End-to-end encryption that you see with iMessages and Signal is something that should be normal, like https on websites.
