I have a metal building about 20-25 meters away from the modem/router in my kitchen. I put a WiFi extender on the other side of the house a lot closer to the metal building. The signal from the extender seems to be at full signal right outside of the metal building. Once in the metal building, the 5G is completely nonexistent and the 2.4 hardly cuts through. Any ideas on what the easiest, cheapest solution is? The only thing I can think of is using some kind of outdoor extender or running Ethernet to the building...

Not the cheapest but an Ubiquiti Beam for about $200 would give you primo internet for up to a mile

Was coming to post this. The Nano Beams are solid if you have line of sight between the buildings. They take a little configuration but aren't too terribly difficult to figure out youtube is your friend.

My shop is metal. I tried everything. Wound up running an ethernet cable to it, which connected to one of my Google Mesh pucks. Problem solved.

Just an update on how I resolved this issue. I ended up trying an ethernet over powerline adapter. It worked perfectly, I just needed an access point in the metal building after that. I got lucky because the metal building was on the same power circuit as the house. I'll leave a link below if anyone wants to check it out, it saved me from running a very long cable lol.

My outdoor shop is also metal and about same distance. It is ran out of the house breaker box but with a separate box in shop. Will this work the work for me the way you did it?

Yes, it will work. From my understanding you will need to be plugged into the same hot to transformer center tap as the one you have plugged into the house

I think it would work. Order from amazon and return it if it doesn’t work.

Actually wanted to thank you guys for the Nanobeam idea. We have internet running into our church office and then running underground through a conduit under our parking lot to our worship building. All that copper wire was killing our internet speeds and we were having trouble getting someone to come out and pull the fiber through and wire it into the church.

We have good line of sight across the campus (one tree that will have to stay trimmed to not become an issue) and it improved our connection by 10X on the download side and 5X on the upload. Great little gizmos. So thanks again!
