First time fooling with a Raspberry Pi and im having some issues. I have it booted off a SD with the Pi OS installed with my Wifi cred setup and SSH on. I can see it on my network and its IP. I can SSH into it and go into the config part and was able to turn on the VNC stuff but on my mac I can not remote into it. I also have the Pi also hooked to a regular computer screen via a micro hdmi/hdmi wire. What is the preferred way to get into a headless pi on a mac?

Is SSH not the best option?

Tried this?

Rustdesk is an open source option. Seems like some people have had some issues with it though.

It might be, but being 100% new to them and not really knowing how to code I'd like to get to a desktop to look around. I got in now, I downloaded realVNC. I didn't see it in the app store so I got a different VNC app that just wasn't working or the native mac sharing app. Not sure if I had something configured wrong for those but im in now

I had tried remote desktop vnc and the native screen sharing on the mac. I am able to VNC to it now but I never could get the HDMI to a extra computer monitor to work, not sure why but ill fiddle with it more over time.

realVNC

They ended or are ending their free tier, which is why I made the move to RustDesk. Really enjoyed realVNC for years.

Ill look into that

I may have just had the wrong settings for the other VNC I downloaded. Do the VNC setting in the Pi matter to what viewer you try to use? I may have been reading realVNC stuff but using a different one.

I’ll ride out the free account as long as it lets but I’m up and running now
