Having issue with Schlage lock and my door

The lock itself works great, but the door needs to be pushed/pulled just a hair to allow the lock to engage. The door closes and catches fine but there's just enough play in it to keep the dead bolt from closing properly unless you push/pull on the door knob. Is there some kind of device, besides the big industrial door closers, that will help with this?

A drill. Adjust your hole. You should have enough wiggle room to realign it

i have the same issue
i'm planning to get a smart lock soon, and i need to fix this myself, because i know the smartlock won't be able to engage

I had to dremel the hole a bit deeper for the schalge bolt (which was longer than my previous deadbolt). I also dremeled the striking plate a tad to make the whole a little bigger, that way the schlage doesn't have to go into "high power mode" to force the lock shut, which drains the battery.

I'll try drilling out the hole but I have a feeling there won't be enough room.

you cant just put a grinder on your dremel and make the deadbolt opening wider on the side its dragging against?

I'll have to check when I get home, hopefully that's all I'll have to do.

I did the same thing when installing mine. I had to adjust it quite a bit for the upgraded strike plate.

Does this door have a seal installed on the stops? If so, it may be too thick OR it may not be installed "tight" enough against the stop.
It could also be an improperly installed hinge. First check to see if all screws in the hinges are tightened flush against the hinge. If even one sticks up, it can cause the door not to close correctly.
As a last resort, try moving the strike plate to allow the latch bolt to miss it.

I have an old house with no seals. I did try to take the strike plate off and grind out the hole but apparently there was a small strike plate on top of a high security strike plate. I took the narrower plate off and my lock worked perfectly.

I completely forgot about the thicker/larger security plate. I actually didn't use it, and just kept my stock strike plate. The door is windowed top-to-bottom, and flanked by windows; if someone wants in my house, they won't need to kick in a deadbolt LOL

This is a general question for all you Schlage users:
How are you liking it so far? If you have the Zwave enabled version, how is it working with your particular smart home setup?

I really like mine as well. No issues with wink hub 2 or echo integration. Biggest complement I can give it is that the wife and kids use it and don't complain. That is worth a lot right there.

I haven't had mine long enough to comment but I like it so far.

Which schlage is recommended? I've been interested for awhile but am not what they call handy with setting these things up ---- figure I could buy one and hire someone to install it.

I have 2 of the BE469, super easy to install.

It's really easy. You only need a screwdriver and maybe a Dremel with a grinder if the bolt doesn't live up perfectly.
You want to bolt action to be butter smooth.
