Has anyone replaced a double-din head unit in their vehicle recently?

I'm looking at replacing the head unit in my Tundra with something that will mirror or cast the screen from my S9+, but it would be nice if it connected to apple as well. What features are must haves, any brands to avoid, and any recommendations from those who have purchased a unit recently would be appreciated.

Instead of replacing the head unit, why not use a kit like this?

BeatSonic Tundra Kit

It is supposed to work on the Tundra. They also have a youtube video out there showing it in action.

Just added a double din head unit to my 2007 Lexus es350.

It's barely over 100k Miles and paid off so I wanted to modernize the tech inside for the long haul.

I got a Kenwood DX7705S I believe from Best Buy. Conversion kit was $30ish and unit was $399. I went ahead and paid Best Buy to put it in because I didn't want the head ache.

Key thing is make sure it has Android Auto/Apple car play and you'll be fine.

I am about to replace one in a 2012 E350 15 passenger van I just got.

I want to add a backup camera...maybe a front...or a 360 if its possible and reasonable. Also want apple car play or something like that for hands free texting and calling. Also have 6 speakers in the van so not sure how that will play out on the HU 4ch amp. I know the back CH can run the 4 speakers but I dont know if the drop in ohms will play well with the HU

Not sure what im going to get yet...just got the van. I dont need NAV or to play CDs really I stream all my music content these days.

Was going to look at the usual brands Kenwood,Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion. Are there any others I should consider?

Wireless Android Auto was recently released. Only a few models exist with Pioneer and Kenwood I believe. They are still pretty high. I am waiting a few months before all the new models hit the markets and prices drop

I recently installed a Alpine head unit in my 06 Tundra. The plug and play Alpine amp required no additional wiring really made a difference in sound. The amp is small and I zip tied inside the dash behind the head unit.

Thanks, the beatsonic might actually be a really nice solution, especially if it works to cast even when driving.

I installed a Seicane Android HU is my Tacoma recently. It was pretty easy once I got the correct wiring harness.
