Anyone else experience this nonsense?

fricking phone wouldn't "wake" from sleep, so i had to do a reset. Put in my password to which it didn't accept. Did the change password option, and now it says I need to try again in 24 hours.

Just wondering if anyone had this happen, and whether they were able to use it after said 24 hour window.

Had something similar once on my Pixel C, but never on my phones. Ended up having to factory reset to use it again.

Happened to me near the end of my experience with Android when I was traveling, it's the most angry I've been in a while

It's a completely fricked up feature that most people aren't made clearly aware of and to which there is no solution (other than to wait it out).

the concept behind it is understandable, but there has to be a better way to do it

Neither was I.

It has pissed me off royally.

It's a security feature in case the phone is lost or stolen.

If you have ever used Gmail on your android phone, and do a factory reset, this shite can happen.

FRP, factory reset protection. Also known as google lock.

THIS

If it had the caution of being locked out, i would have hopped on a laptop with the quickness.
Like you said, I understand the concept, but for actual owners of the phone it's a major pita.

Did it allow you to unlock the bastard after the wait time Pettifogger?

Yes, but I had tried to get around it for a few hours (before I confirmed there was no way to avoid the wait).

I was terrified that I'd retrigger the wait time so I probably waited like 36 hours before doing it

i've never heard of this and have no idea what this is. And, i've had at least 8 different android phones. What is this and how do i avoid ever being angry like you?

I've had about 5 other Android phones and didn't know either. Going off of memory:

I had a 6P with the overheating issue that a lot of people experienced
Tried to factory reset
All my PWs are saved, so in the process of tinkering and trying to reset or see if I could fix the issue I needed the PW and didn't know it. I casually reset it (I do this all the time as I assume a lot of other people do with various accounts).
Try to finish the factory reset, but it won't accept recently changed PW, and locks me out for 24 hours

So I get to go on a business trip w/o a phone, basically. Getting locked out of Gmail or something would be one thing, but it makes something I possess title to completely unusable, which I found totally insane.
