Son is 4 and he LOVES monster trucks. I made the mistake of letting him play one free one I downloaded on my phone and now he wants to play a good bit. I downloaded him a couple on his old Amazon fire tablet but that thing Is SLOW AS HELL. Any ideas on something a little snappier for him that is on the cheap side. Thanks in advance.

Just get a kids fire tablet. They have a great no questions asked warranty for when he drops it or brings it in the tub.

If you must get a tablet for a 4 year old, get a fire tablet. It comes in a huge case that makes it fall-proof...mostly.

Buy a cheap used iPad, throw a thick rubber case from Amazon on it, and you're good to go. If you have an iPhone you can easily set up Family Sharing and restrict apps, times, etc.

Thanks for the replies. We spend tons of time outside and I’ll refuse to let him spend more than a couple hours a day glued to screens but if it’s a lazy day around the house with not much going on I have no issues with him playing a game that he likes. Can be a lifesaver when I’m trying to get some chores done or on a long road trip.

I’m getting a few replies about the fire tablet. Mentioned in the OP that we currently have that but finding it to be super slow. Maybe bc it’s older and a 7 model. ? May just need to delete a bunch of old video downloads and junk from it perhaps.

I have went through all the brands. Samsung is the best for kids. You can buy a kid case for it.

We have fire tablets for our twins. Yes, they are slow, but that's fine. They might use them 5 hours a week, and that's by their own choice.

It’s not the slow part that’s so bad it’s they freeze up a lot. He’ll be in the middle of his level and it’ll just stop and then it’s back to the Home Screen.
