Damn. We have 1gbps at our new house. And it’s in the sticks.

Can’t imagine dial up anymore.

Are you sure you don't mean DSL? It uses phone lines as well.

Or do you mean you literally hear the modem dialing a number every time you connect???

Good lord even a rudimentary 3mbps dsl service blows away dialup.

I think I’ve been using some form of high speed internet since 2001 or so.

I honestly didn't realize it was still a thing. I knew there were still some people with landlines, but I don't know a single person who has one. My parent's don't even have a landline anymore.

Hey it may be the 21st century but there are still some areas that (pathetically) only have dialup or hugesnet avaible.

I had big hopes for broadband over power lines but that croaked out.

STarlink seems to work pretty well. A friend of mine that lives in Calhoun got it and he's prtty happy with it.
