Does anyone have an recommendations for a good and easy program to edit and create videos from a Go Pro camera? The program available from their site is no longer functional.

TIA

Not really, I was only able to make about a 3 or 4 min video. I tried to do a longer one and it took forever to load the videos and then kept timing out. I tried w/ the computer program, but keep getting an error message. Since they are not making any updates to this system, I can't get any help from Go Pro.

Quik sucks donkey balls. Search for an old copy of GoPro Studio on Google. I was able to find it. You still have to use Quik to get the videos off your camera and then open with Studio.

If you're looking for free and easy..

Mac: iMovie

Microsoft: type "video editor" in the windows search bar.

if all you're trying to do is some light editing and convert them from MOV to mp4 so you can put it on youtube there's plenty of free programs that do that.
I use Movie Maker Video Editor.

With GoPro video, you're dealing with HUGE files! Even a big shouldered computer is going to groan with all those ones and zeroes.

I use the paid-for version of DaVinci Resolve (recommend!) and use it in PROXY mode. (Not sure if that's available in the free version). Proxy mode makes low-res proxies of those behemoth files, lets you edit those, and finally outputs your finished produce in the glorious HD or 4K version.

IF - you are a Mac User: Final Cut Pro X will process HEIC files IIRC. You will want to also purchase Compressor.

Use imovie on Mac.

It's way easier.
