Latest x1 app update senses when you are mirroring your phone screen to a tv and shuts down the video with a little message that this is not allowed.
You stupid backwards frick of a company. It's 2016 and I'm not installing a box and running coax to every tv in my house.
I guess I gotta fricking install a separate app for every tv station now.

I guess I don't understand what's happening here... what does the x1 app do, and why is it necessary?

I used to be able to watch TV on any TV in my house with a Chromecast using the phone's cast option because Comcast won't put a cast feature in the app itself.
Now they took that away and I can only watch tv on my phone and the one tv with the coax and box running to it.
fricking retarded

They want you to pay for more boxes. Terrible company.

Oh, does the app let you watch TV away from home? That might be why.

Only when I'm on their wifi network.
So the frickers know I'm at home already.

Oh, well that's shitty.
So they prevent their app from letting you avoid renting extra boxes, and cap your internet so you can't cancel TV and stream everything. I can't wait for idiotic companies like this to die.

Pretty much spot on.
It's frustrating to see the Google orange fiber on spools posted up 1 mile away from my house and know I'll never see it because I'm over the county line.

Quite the racket they've got going. It can't die fast enough.

They frickin got their dirty hands in the pockets of our state politicians. Pissed they shot down EPBs chances to run fiber to rural areas outside of EPBs service area that these douchebag companies won't service.
I love my EPB gigabit, started upgrading my network so I am ready for more than a gigabit. EPB doesn't like not being the best, cheapest, and fastest provider in the state and that 10gig price is gonna come down eventually.

Google fiber is threatening to close up shop in Nashville if they won't pass the one-touch pole rule.
That means the Google crew can adjust the existing attachments on the pole as they add their own to ensure all the stuff on the pole meets code, is high enough off there ground, etc.
Right now they have to call att, electric company, comcast, etc one-at-a-time to move their crap to make room and as you can imagine... Comcast is in no hurry to show up.
This means the crew can be stuck at a single pole for weeks at a time making the rollout impossible while waiting for each company to dispatch someone to move their ONE attachment...then wait on the next company to move their box...then the next....
Eta I want to say there are 30,000 poles in Nashville which will each need touched. See the problem?

This is why Google bought that wireless ISP recently. I've been thinking about starting one up myself.
