See photos. After 1 year, my wife has spent a little over $30 or $2.67/month for her phone.

What she gets:

Sprint Network
Unlimited Talk
Unlimited Text
1GB LTE

-- Free--

What she pays for:
Group Text & Image Messaging for $1.99 month

This has been a full year now. The only "glitch" is you have to make calls through the FreedomPop App.

Calls work in Wifi or with Sprint LTE connection.

How to avoid being charged more money:
Data usage.

As long as you don't use the full 1gb of data, it will not atomically "top" you a $20 charge to refill your data.

She has never gone over and has never been charged a top up fee.

If you are looking to give a phone to someone who is in wifi most of the day and don't want to spend hundreds per year this is a real solution.

Her phone is a iphone 6 as well. It doesn't matter what phone you use.

Would be great if I knew anyone who used that little amount of data.

True.. but some ask themselves "is checking Facebook 673 times a day worth $50/month?" When the answer is no is becomes more similar to "I like brownies.. but is eating 10 brownies a day worth the 20lbs I put on a year?"

If you can learn moderation and isn't job required it's golden.

Ya I've really liked Project Fi so far. I'm averaging under 3gb a month in data usage, which half usually happens when I'm bored somewhere without wifi. Going from +$70 to ~$50 is nice. Hopefully that and adjusting my cable situation should save me ~$1,200 this year over last. Seems like some good alternatives out there for folks to look into. I think the fact you really do pay for what you use makes you more aware and saves you money. Great mental game.

Going to test the international features this summer for a full review.

You realize you only use data when not on WIFI right? I mean when do you actually need data outside of wifi? WIth wifi in my office and at home, the amount of times I need to use it are very few and far between. Now want to use it, different story.Even doctor offices and many other public places have free wifi now.

I'm not saying its easy to stay under 1gb, but there are very few people who actually "need" to pay for more than 1gb. If you wait 5 mins to update your fb or check your email most of the time you get use wifi.

Is that a real question?

I disagree. Most people need more than 1 gig a month even without checking facebook, which i personally am not even on.

I have had the 1GB plan on Fi for the 2 years I've had it.

Only went over I think once.

Last year I traveled all over the world with Fi. It was great.

Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Japan, Thailand and all over Europe.

Worked flawlessly.

That's good to know. It will be a good test for Fi as I'm heading to Peru and will in the valley near Cusco for most days. If it works there then that would be impressive.

Cusco is amazing. I hope you give yourself a few days to get acclimated to the elevation. It really messed me up after spending a week at sea level in Lima.

Nope Gonna get the prescription through my wife and/or chew some cocoa. Jetting right through Lima to Cusco and then down into the valley in one swoop. So I should be at about 8,000 feet for a few days before heading up to Cusco. Supposedly the problems don't really start until 10,000 feet so hopefully this will be enough.
