I've been holding off on grabbing one because just about every one I saw was 30+ and hadn't quite figured out the rhyme or reason.

I follow CNET on Twitter and they recommended this one for 12.99 each as a good, cheap entry level option. I just grabbed 3 to place around the office/house and will report back.

Wireless charging is the only feature I miss from Samsung.

I bought a wireless charger about 6 months ago, and I love it.

My only gripe with that one is my iphone x has to be positioned just right for it to start charging. I've been using it for a few months now.

they're good to keep from wearing out your lightning/usb port on your phone.

charging is much slower so you'll need to get used to that.

the nice thing is the little cheap qi charger i found ($5 i think) is able to charge through the fake leather case my phone is in so i don't have to remove it.

sometimes it can be a pain to get the phone into the 'sweet spot' for charging. i've seen a few where the QI spot actually moves around trying to find the right place on the phone but that reeks of a bandaid trying to fix a flawed technology to me.

all in all i've found wireless charging meh at best.

I had one in my car when I still had a compatible phone. I just mounted it inside a regular car mount. It wasn't fast by any means, but it would at least maintain the charge while using maps/music apps. It's nice to not have to plug/unplug or have a wire dangling somewhere. They're also great for your nightstand.

I won't buy a phone without it.

When it came out, I had no use for it and thought it was a gimmick but when I bought a phone 6 years ago, I got one for free then they sent another by accident. Now I can't live without it.

I now have 3 at home and 1 at work. Just bought a couple upright chargers.

Not having to fish around with a charging cable is nice. The biggest sell to me, though, is not ever having the phone attached to anything. When I'm at work and I get a call, I just pick it up and answer. I don't have a cable getting in the way. When I want to look something up, I just grab the phone and look up what I need without getting tangled up in a cable.

When I'm sleepy and ready to go to bed, I don't have to turn the light on and fish around for a cable to plug in, I just drop the phone on the puck. I have a pad wired into the center console of my vehicle under a very thin rubber pad. I just drop my phone into the tray when I get in and off we go. I have one in whatever spots I spend a significant amount of time, so there's one in the vehicle, one on my end table where I chill in the living room, one on my nightstand, and one on my desk. My phone just jumps from puck to puck through my day and is always charged.

It's definitely a quality of life thing. I can't imagine ever going back to having to have a cable, though I can see where it might not be as useful if you have limited time where your phone can be on a charger; Qi chargers are slower than cables plugged into a good charger. Think of them more as trickle chargers that work best if you can just keep your phone on them while you work, watch TV, sleep, etc.

Will my iphone 8+ charge through the case? It's not an otter box or anything like that. Just a typical plastic case.

I'm interested on the charging speed but even if it isn't fast, that's fine. I have an X. I generally charge my phone every night so starting at 100% in the morning and then even just maintaining while I'm not using it throughout the day is fine. That's why I went with the, one for office, one for bedroom, and one for home office.

Apple messed with the wireless charging speed. You'll have to wait for their pad if you want faster.

I have an iottie 4 car mount wireless charger.

Works great when not using the phone. If making a call or using maps, it only seems to be able to keep the battery from draining. However this may be a function of running the usb cable to the back of my radio instead of the cigarette adapter it came with. Both are rated to have the same output so in theory that shouldn’t be an issue.

I actually read that the phones have 7.5 capability but it's locked and only allows 5.

Speed isn't really a big concern to me and as much as I love an excuse to buy an apple product, I'm not down with the rumored $199 price tag.

Got em in. Plugged in and worked seamlessly. The only thing I have to do is make sure the middle of the phone is centered on the charger. Besides that the rotation doesn't matter at all. We'll see what the charge times are like.
