Hi all,
Looking for some suggestions for someone wanting to get an “entry level” camera. Not sure if that’s the correct phrasing, but would be using it to take pictures of their kids. I’m willing to spend a few hundred bucks. What’s a good set up? Or should I be prepared to spend more? Thanks.

I think what you're looking for is a "point and shoot." Optical adjustable lens, compact, inexpensive. This category has thinned out an absolute ton in the last 15 years.
Something like this? Price escalates very, very fast after this kind of point and shoot.

Maybe something a little above that basic level? Not sure if that makes sense. Seeing a lot about mirrorless cameras. The cannon R50 pops up quite a bit. Out of my depth here to be honest.

Before we can answer the question, what is your REAL budget?

Good question, should’ve provided that. No more than a thousand. Would LIKE to stay in the 700-800 range if possible.

If that's the range a used mirrorless camera from either Cannon, Nikon or Sony. You'll have go a few generations back, but you'll be surprised how much better pictures it takes compared to a cell phone.

Any recs on a model? And would you rule out that R50?
