Seems like my main Gmail account that I use for all my personal emails and bills was hacked. I have received over 8K emails since mid-day Sunday. It seems that some of these emails are from Home Depot, Best Buy,Facebook, ect and are meant to be sent to others.
Any course of action you would recommend?

Your Gmail account wasn't hacked. Your email address was simply "sold" as an account that has a live person using it, because you likely clicked on something you shouldn't have last week.
Mark the SPAM emails as such within Gmail, that that will teach your Google overlord how to automatically detect *most* of the emails that look like them that they are SPAM before they hit your inbox. At some point in the future. It may take a day, it make take a month.

Someone who doesn't like you has signed you up for everything.

Gmail two-factor authentication is pretty great.
If you're using it, the odds are near zero that you've been hacked.
You'll never know Gmail two-factor authentication is there until you access your account from a new device. Google texts you a verification code and you enter the numbers on the device.

At work I use to get an occasional email from China in Chinese. I decided to answer one, explaining I don’t read Chinese and there was no need to send me emails. I then received about 2000 per day from them. Fortunately, I was on my last week of work there. I really wanted to reply with an email of distress and apology that I infected 2 Chinese ladies with a very resistant gc strain just before they left back to China but I figured they would probably then attack my entire workplace. I didn’t. Owner said I had over 100,000 emails when the dc’ed the account.

Change password and turn on 2fa. When you sign up or buy anything that requires an email address, and +vendor to your ID (my email+homedepot@gmail.com). This way, if you get spam, you know which vendor sold your info.
