Press release
DIRECTV NOW
Starting Nov. 30, stream your favorite live sports, on demand, premium channels, popular shows, and hit movies right to your tablet, smartphone or TV. It’s the experience you love, without the limits you don’t.
Experience any of our packages free for 7 days when you sign up at www.directvnow.com and download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. To celebrate our historic launch of DIRECTV NOW, we’re making streams come true by offering our “Go Big” package with more than 100 channels for just $35 per month. This is a limited time offer. Customers who sign up for this offer will continue to enjoy this special price for as long as you keep the package, subject only to future reasonable programming price increases applicable to all packages.
DIRECTV NOW programming packages are seeded from our existing satellite TV service, putting popular channels together for a great entertainment value:
Live a Little – $35 / month (60+ channels)
Just Right – $50 / month (80+ channels)
Go Big – $60 / month (100+ channels)
Gotta Have it – $70 / month (120+ channels)
Fans of HBO® and Cinemax® can add these channels for just $5 each per month in addition to your base programming package.
DIRECTV NOW will be available at launch through the following:
Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
Android mobile devices and tablets
iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
Chromecast (Android at launch; iOS in 2017)
Google Cast-enabled LeEco ecotvs and VIZIO SmartCast Displays

Is that true about pausing for 30mins? Right now no one can pause espn through sling or psvue.
That would be huge, to me at least.

quote:Omg, are they serious here? THEY instituted the arbitrary data limits! And now they're making it a selling point that THEIR service doesn't count against THEIR limits? Looks like Sling/Sony/Netflix/whoever will have to pay to play now.
It’s the experience you love, without the limits you don’t.
RIP net neutrality, and RIP free markets. How can we allow the gatekeeper to control the price/value of competing services?

If you stream this does it use your data up?
Posted on 11/28/16 at 6:21 pm to papasmurf1269
Not if you have At&t (at least that's the way it is being presented).

quote:Agreed. FCC has already taken notice and has required them to come to them and explain how they think this isn't a violation. Prelude to a lawsuit from FedGov.

I will definitely be signing up. I do not have access to Uverse due to distance and cannot get a dish. I've been waiting for this announcement. Getting an Apple TV certainly makes it worth trying for me. If only they would actually let me know about an employee discount, that would really be the icing on the cake.

i wonder if the streaming service will be a bit behind like if i was streaming on a computer to where twitter will spoil sporting events, etc.
not a huge deal but just curious

This might be a more complete list:

Wonder if you will be able to use your directv now credentials to log into the content websites like AMC to be able to view content.
I'd like to know this as well. Would be yuge if so.

So I guess one can't cancel their current DTV without penalty?

$40/month for 60 channels+HBO and a free Apple TV? Where do I sign up?

Doesn't seem like a bad deal
Posted on 11/28/16 at 10:09 pm to ellunchboxo
Yea, NFL Sunday ticket or NFL Network? Although it's about to be a moot point in like 3-4 weeks
Posted on 11/28/16 at 10:10 pm to Old Hellen Yeller
I'm assuming the appletv they give is the latest gen right?
Posted on 11/28/16 at 10:39 pm to Covingtiger
Hmm, they didn't really say no...but if the answer is no then that sucks. Not only for the lack of options when it comes to games being televised only on watchESPN but also for the nick jr and Disney jr apps if you have kids
