Cox throttling down internet?

I live in South Baton Rouge around LSU. I work from home and have noticed my internet getting capped at around 35 mbps. I pay for 150. I have a 3.1 modem and a NetGear NightHawk router.
Does anyone else notice this? When I reset my modem from my cox account it improved to +120 then regresses back down to around 35 shortly after. Any ideas? thanks in advance

Plug straight into the modem and run a speed test. That is how you rule out your equipment.

Are you testing directly from the modem or a device connected to the router? I would check from the modem if you haven't already so you can rule in/out your router. I have a Nighthawk X4S R7800 and wasn't getting my full 500Mbps when speed testing from several devices until I turned on Dynamic QoS.

I was having problems recently. Not with Cox. Turned out my modem was failing. Replaced. All cool.
But, my WiFi was still spotty. Changed the channel from 48 to 44. Runs great now.
