I am going to cancel my home phone with cox and will have to return the modem. What’s a good modem? We only stream shows and play games. Each month we are right at or over the limit for data. I am going to upgrade to unlimited. Thanks

Arris are good. What is the speed of your internet plan?

Right. The speed is important if you're gonna purchase one.

It's best to choose a modem from Cox's certified list:

My speed is low at 150 but am changing my plan completely. We don’t use phone or tv but have been paying for it. Everything is streamed. 5 TV’s, 4 tablets, 4 phones, 1 fire stick, and two systems (PS4/xbox). Mostly Disney and Netflix stuff. Is the giga blast worth it?

Are you having problems because 150 down should be enough. If it's not I'm sure that Cox will let you increase to the next higher plan as often as needed.

Should just be around $25-30 extra per month to upgrade to 500mb service which COX says would be good if you had 9 devices going at once. You can log into your COX account and see the different options.

I'm wondering if I need a new modem. A few months ago Cox changed my 300mbps plan to their 500mbps plan. My wifi speeds didn't change after the switch. I assumed I would see a slight bump going from 300 to 500 but I still see the same 150-170mpbps that I saw before. If I upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.1 modem will I see a speed increase? My current modem is the Arris SB6190 which is DOCSIS 3.0.

You should be able to get up to 960 mbs per second with that modem. So you should be getting closer to 500 mbs if that’s what you pay for. I would try to plug an Ethernet cable directly from modem to a pc then do an online speed test. Knowing Cox, something didn’t go right when they upgraded you!
