So I finally moved away from Cox, and I am a happy camper.
I was paying for 50mbit with Cox, and on speedtests I would always get around 60mbit, almost without fail. But for the last couple weeks, I was dropping a lot of packets. It wasn't always noticeable, but about 1 in 10 links I clicked wouldn't work the first time and I would have to refresh. I ran some long-running ping tests, and I would drop anywhere from 1% to 10% of packets. Of course, the "tests" on their end showed a strong signal and no problems.
So now I am paying for 50mbit with the local ISP, and I'm getting 50mbit on speedtests. "Slower", but god damn does it feel a whole lot faster. Not just faster than the last few weeks of noticeable packet loss with Cox, but faster than I ever remember it being with Cox. I think Cox has had some problems for a long time, now that I've seen what another provider can do.
I hope it stays like this.

I got one.
Just realized that cox had been charging me since November for service that was straight up cancelled. Told them I was moving to a place that Cox didn't serve, and needed to cancel for good. Even gave them an updated address. They skipped or prorated the bill when I cancelled so I thought it was the last charge.
Never sent me a bill. At that time they also Started charging for a "free" tv service that I didn't even use, or know I had, because I had no box to get tv. $100 a month for a prorated total of $260 that they owe me and are sending a check for. Op, they will eventually charge you for that tv that lowers your bill.
Said they had the work order number, it just didn't go through. Says it happens one in every 50 accounts or so. They are such scumbags.

Just cut the cord, cable and sat tv are waaay overated. Get OTA antenna and kodi plus whatever other service you want. The more I prowl around kodi and video addons the more I find. It takes a bit to find a “channel” you may want to watch but its there. I had my kodi boxes programmed by a local geek and the go to addons so far are exodus phoenix stream all sources pro sport sports devil and made in Canada tv. That get me everything from live news services, sportscentre, live sports, networks (plus the OTA), tv shows, specialty channels (hbo, AE, discovery etc), movies and a week in I guarantee I’m only scratching the surface. Just need a good interwebs provider – I have 50mbs cable connection w/ unlimited and we are good to go
When I cancelled my sat tv the rep tried to pull the internet and kodi stability BS for tv shows, channels etc and talk me out of cancelling ... na Im good I think the interwebs is here to stay
