If you blindly install kodi with any addon, think it's okay, and do whatever you want and get caught, you deserve every bit of a penalty for your ignorance and stupidity.

Could you offer some constructive input?

I haven't seen any Kodi install instruction that suggests any type of additional steps for protection of this kind.

Meh this is a non-issue. As long as you aren't using a P2P add-on, you'll be fine.

I don't know that anyone's received a notice from a streaming add-on like Exodus/Genesis, SALTs, ICE, etc.

I got one of these a few years ago back in my rookie torrenting days. Nothing ever came of it.

So what add-ons use P2P besides Pulsar/Quasar/XBMCTorrent or add-ons that use SOPcast or Acestream?

I'm not the one stealing them. I'm just watching the stolen version

I didn't chief. Someone else acquired it by some means, (possibly legally, possibly not) and decided to share it with me.

i bet none of you motherfrickers remembers the good ol days of REPLAYTV when they added a feature where you could access your videos over the WORLDWIDEWEB and very quickly an 'amateur' website sprang up where everyone was sharing their homemade DVR (standard def) and even a search field was added

oh the good ol days. i remember thinking it was magic i could watch an episode of 'twin peaks' i missed from someone else's shared web-dvr.

this was like 1998.

frick YOU AND YOUR FANCY KODI shite.

Ever watch a dvd with a friend? Guess what, you broke the copyright agreement.

Ever loaned or borrowed a dvd? guess what, you broke the copyright agreement.

Does anyone know or somewhat know, how Exodus works?

I assumed it just pinged the various hosts to see if links were still active for streaming. I assumed the list gets updated from time to time.

Exodus does have insane speeds so is it possible, there is some torrent use going on? Torrenting built in?

Use a well known and trusted VPN or SSL shuttle. Check for dns leaks and see if your open.

Seems a bit fricked up to let the owners of the infrastructure also own the companies providing content to be consumed over the infrastructure. Talk about a conflict of interest.

it's only a conflict of interest if you're trying to justify using content without paying the proper licensing/purchase costs

and owenr-distributed content is likely the future

well OP brought this issue to the forum with his thread, so "minding our own business" makes no sense as a response to a legit response

then the license was violated and you stole the content

showing a movie to small groups (without commercial motivation) in your home is within the license, so it's not an apt comparison (if you want to "go there"). your friends who own blurays can't go throw the movie up on a projector for the neighborhood to watch

believe the first sale doctrine applies to physical media

that's why libraries can rent DVDs and rental places could sell old ones

think about the difference in Netflix's online and DVD libraries for a "real world" example

NVM... SFP, who actually is a lawyer, has already dropped a truth bomb. Your physical copy will degrade over time, and cannot be in more than one place at a time. Which is why you cannot legally make copies of the DVD, CD, etc.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any private tracker invites they want to hook a brother up with?
