Channels via Antenna (Lake Charles area)

Ok so I hooked up my antenna. I did not hook up the powered amplifier as I'd have to run a receptacle. I can do it but I am not sure it's worth it.
Anyone else around getting more than 3 or 4 channels? According to antenna web I'm only capable of getting maybe 7channels anyway. Anyone have any input?
If all I get is the local news I'm ok with that. Just not sure how many more I could catch. It might be worth it if I can.
Thanks

You should be able to get KPLC in Lake Charles along with Lafayette and Beaumont channels. KPLC now controls FOX in Lake Charles and is transition moving equipment, I'm not sure if that is effecting the OTA signal for the local FOX.
edit to add:
out of Lafayette you should be able to get CBS and ABC. Beaumont you should be able to get ABC, NBC, CBS and maybe FOX.

Ok. Looks like I'll go ahead and run power eventually

When did this happen?

I have an amplified antenna. I get ABC, KPLC, Fox, and a few public broadcasting channels along with, something like 3 Grit stations and 2 CW's.
I wish I could get a CBS, but I think where I am in LC is just outside the range.

What type of antenna are ya'll using? I'm about 3 miles from KPLC and maybe 1 mile from Fox and those and CW are all I catch. Even then, I have to mess with the antenna sometimes to get them all at the same time. I'm using the flat leaf style antenna and I've tried it with and without the amplifier, but have never caught an ABC or CBS.

Im not in LC but on the outskirts on Baton Rouge. I get 40+ channels but only wanted access to ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Most of these are duplicates and some are triple and full of stuff Ill never watch. If those come in clear enough for your liking, then its worth it.
Also, what type of Antenna are you using? I placed one in my attic and didnt need an amplifier.

I live in Allen Parish, about and hour northeast of Westlake. I have some rabbit ears in my attic, with a small in-line amplifier connected. I get around 25 "channels." Mind you, these include three different PBS channels with three feeds each. I also get ABC out of Lafayette, NBC, CBS and CW out of Alexandria. Sometimes I get FOX and NBC out of Lake Charles.

This is mine. I powered it and still didn't improve. Might be that it's upstream from a 4 way splitter. Might be a crappy tuner built into the TV's. Someone else posted that I many need a tuner that plugs into the TV.
All I get is kplc and their subsequent 2 channel's 7-2 and 7-3

I bought the knock off amplified leaf antenna from walmart. It only works when it is practically hanging out of the window though.
Maybe its your antenna placement. I'm south down by the Burton Coliseum, so I have it on a north facing window. If I try to put it somewhere else I can catch only Fox

Have you tried this for pointing?
AntennaWeb
It will also give you signal strength based on your location and distance to transmitter.
Mom lives near Moss Lake and her OTA reception sucks....luckily she gets the national feeds for CBS/ABC/CW/Fox/NBC from Direct TV....but she can catch KPLC ok...but even then it's can pixelate during adverse weather.

Yes sir thanks.
It appears to be my 4 way splitter in the attic. It seems I need to power amplify ahead of the splitter or just run cable to on TV. Thanks for the replies guys

Best place to amplify is right after the antenna and before any splitters...splitters are notoriously known for signal degradation/drop. See if it's printed on the splitter what the dB drop is...
