I cannot get the ESPN app to stream a game on my Samsung TV. When I select a game, it eventually says "Unable to play video. Contact customer service if problem persists."

Customer service recommends unplugging the TV for over minute.

I have now tried the methods of unplugging the TV, deleting and re-installing the ESPN app, and updating the software of the TV. Still having the same error message.

All other streaming services work on this TV, so its not a bandwidth/ISP issue. I have been streaming the games from my laptop with no interruption.

Any ideas? Has anyone else run into this problem?

I have had similar problems before, although not on a Samsung. What's worked for me in the past has been to sign out and then sign back in. I'm not sure if uninstalling and reinstalling did that though.

You could also try unplugging your router for a minute or two.

Would certainly try this. Our Disney+ app on Firestick gives an error message or hangs loading content about every 6-8 weeks. Only way to fix it is to reboot the router.

Get a $30 chromecast. Then you can just cast from your app on your phone.

Just spend the $30 on the stick and be done.

I’d try asking someone else for their login info and see if there is something up with your credentials.

If problem persists and you already reinstalled the app, I’d do a factory reset on the tv and see if that solves the problem.

I stream espn on my Samsung TV, plus a Roku Tv, Sony TV, Firestick, etc.

I often get error messages from espn on every platform. The solution for me is to go to the controls section of the espn app, log out of my TV provider, then log back in. PITA, but it works.

Get a google chromecast box and screw the TV electronics. Your viewing experience will be much better with a $40 purchase.

I’ve had fire sticks and Roku. The Roku is better than fire stick, but chromecast runs circles around both.

If you've tried the basic troubleshooting steps like unplugging the TV, deleting and reinstalling the ESPN app, and updating the TV's software, and you're still experiencing issues with the app, there are a few other things you can try:

Clear the app cache: Sometimes app caches can become corrupted and cause issues with streaming. You can try clearing the cache for the ESPN app by going to Settings > Apps > ESPN > Storage > Clear cache.

Reset the TV to factory settings: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting the TV to its factory settings. This will erase all settings and data on the TV, so make sure to back up any important data before proceeding. To reset the TV, go to Settings > General > Reset.

Check your network settings: Make sure that your TV is connected to the same network as your laptop, and that your network settings are configured correctly. You can try resetting your network settings by going to Settings > General > Network > Network settings reset.

Contact ESPN customer support: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact ESPN customer support directly for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or escalate the issue to their technical team.

It's also possible that there is a known issue with the ESPN app on Samsung TVs, so you may want to check online forums or contact Samsung customer support to see if there are any known issues or software updates that could resolve the issue.

An old thread but it’s still an issue with newer samsung tv’s. My new samsung will not play secn+ content on espn+. 3 other samsungs in the house work fine. I can watch espn+ content on the new tv but it wont play secn+ or anything that goes through tv provider. Have reset tv, reloaded app etc. after talking to espn tech support it’s a known issue with no fix. Guessing I’ll just hook up a chrome cast and cast from my phone to tv.

I was having issues with a 2020 samsung. Factory reset it and it has never glitched since.
