Burner phone.

I have a question.
I need a burner phone in order to sell 1-2 items a year on Craigslist. I usually sell a car or a big piece of furniture once a year once my wife and I get tired of it.
I know there are phone apps that can do this but I could also buy a prepaid phone or a SIM card to put in an old phone with a new number as well.
I really only use it for about a week or so after I post the ad and then I would not need it for another 6-12 months.
I only need text and talk capabilities. Do not need data of any kind.
It would just keep all the random calls and texts from coming to my main phone which I use for work.
What is the most cost effective way to do this where I can just activate and deactivate once the item is sold?

Bruh, this sounds sketchy as frick. Just say you wanna sell drugs, no one here would judge you.... harshly.

That’s way too much hassle.
I use google voice from the App Store. Gives you a number and you can call/text.
Once your finished, delete the app or put it in a folder for the next time you use it.

Why not just purchase one of those straight talk prepaid phones from the store? No contract, no worries.
I’ll add this - if you’re going to be using it for illegal shite (which I feel is highly likely) then make sure to buy it with cash, preferably from a store that you don’t frequent. At least that’s how I’d do it... if I did... which I don’t.

Correct. I just downloaded the app and it works great. And it's free.
I have nothing to sell now but it gave me a local number that I can use when the time arrives to sell "the drugs", I mean the next car.

I think it's funny how people assume it is for shady activity. It's really because I use my phone for work and ABSOLUTELY cannot ever have my phone turned off even when I sleep.
I am a solo practice physician and have to be available for patient emergencies.
When I sell a car on Craigslist, I invariably get tons of texts at 11pm or later with stupid questions like "car still for sale" and "what's the lowest you will take?"
With google voice - I did not link it to my phone. It just converts the voice mail to an email and sends it's to me.
I will find it when I wake up and I am still well rested.
