Not looking like Home Depot has ever carried them in the store. You're sure and not Lowe's?

Yes, Home Depot. They keep them in the locked cabinet by self checkout. They do not show up on the home depot website. Clearance is a few weeks old now, so stores may be out of stock.

Hmm- I’m interested in the Gen 2 echos for 25. I’ll have to stop in and check to see if our local store has any. Can’t find the right number to check on brickseek

They have gen 3 dots out there right now for $25. Why would you get gen 2?

Look at the pic he posted. Gen 2 echos, not dots.

Yeah. That’s the plan.

I already have 3 of them, so I don’t really have a big “need” for them. However, at $25 I’m sure I could find a use for them.

Man, you can't trust calling. Half of them have no idea how to look at instore inventory and probably went to the website when you called.

They all said/sounded like they walked up to the cage when I was on the phone with them.

Can you check the 2 Slidell stores?

My wife just went to the one on Northshore and when she asked they looked at her like she was crazy...then cust svc supposedly checked and they said no go.

FYI, if anyone has gen 2 and wants to upgrade, Amazon is offering $5 gift cards for return of a gen 2 Dot in good condition (limit 2 trade-ins), and is offering an additional 25% off an Echo Dot for the first one you trade in. I bought 3 Gen 3 Dots this afternoon. The first one cost me $14 with the rebate and gift card. The second one cost me $20 with the gift card, and the third was the current discounted $25. When they arrive, I'll just drop the Gen 2 devices in the box the Gen 3 came in, slap the UPS shipping label (that Amazon generates for you to print) on, and drop it off at the UPS store to complete the trade-in. They'll go for $50 each in a couple of weeks, so if you want to upgrade, but don't want to pay full freight, now is a great time. I got 3 for under $60 total.

They also are offering a Gen 2 Echo Plus (improved woofer and integrated Zigbee smarthome hub) for $109 ($150 normally) with a free smart bulb. They are accepting up to $30 trade-in for a Gen 1 Echo, so I got the Gen 2 Echo Plus for $79 with a smart bulb.

The short story is that I got three Gen 3 Dots and an Echo Plus for about $11 less than the normal price of an Echo Plus and all my old hardware is going away. All prices are sans tax.

ETA: I think the gift cards are general Amazon gift cards, and not tied to Echo devices, so you probably could use them for other things than getting Echo hardware prices down if you wish.
