It's an android app. You answer little surveys and they give you Google play money.

Should probably add that you can't just go on a rampage filling out surveys... they send you surveys when they want to, so you might earn a quarter one month or $10 the next. And you need to be honest about everything, otherwise they will probably stop sending you surveys. Google knows when you're lying.

I started using it in 2014, and in total I've earned $95.55, so I'm averaging a little less than $3/month. Obviously it's not big money, but it is nice to have that little credit to pay for apps and it's well worth the very small time investment.

I used Textra for years solely for the customization, but made the switch to stock Messages and I can't say I'm unhappy with it. I do miss the customization.. never really have understood why Google doesn't let you customize their apps.

messages has animated gifs now and lots of other features. i also reluctantly gave textra up for hangouts then google spiked hangouts and now i'm down to messenger.

a crappy transition plan here for something as important as texting. shame on google.

A lot of my surveys are the type "which of the following places have you visited recently? => when did you last visit this place? => how did you pay?"

Do you have location services turned on?

logistics. It may be text reminders sent out to people. It could be late in the evening and I'd like to send the message in the morning as opposed to after hours. Let's say I remember something at 9pm that I want to ask someone or whatever,so I schedule the text for whatever time and date I want and it's done.

It sounds like a neat feature at first, but then I realized it doesn't solve any problems that a regular reminder can't handle, and it introduces new problems. What if you need to cancel a scheduled text before it sends, but you forgot that you set it up? You are forgetful, that's why you scheduled the text in the first place. With a reminder, it's just "oh yeah" and then you either send or don't send the message.

How does Textra handle a scheduled message if you delete the thread you made it in? Does it warn you? Does it just silently disappear? Does it keep the scheduled message behind the scenes and sends it later anyway? What?

Used to use textra but I stopped about a year or so ago. I think it was their ads that got to me but I don't remember. It's definitely a nice app and very full featured. I've used hangouts a bit too but nowadays I'm just on Android messaging. It works just fine, though nothing too fancy. I'd used signal a for a while too. That does sms and secure messaging for your contacts who also use it. The app itself is nice. Stopped using that because I couldn't use pushbullet for texting while at my work pc. Also I didn't have many contacts using it.

I was using Messages (from Google) and it was nice but Textra does seem better. For whatever reason I have issues getting group messages from people with iphones though. I think it has to do with the fact that I used to have an iphone back in the day (although we disconnected imessages when I traded the phone in a long time ago).

Signal won't do "regular" sms, will it? The recipient also has to be using signal? That's a deal breaker and will be limiting it to the very knowledgeable and no one else.

Well I don't know, then. I guess I'm targeted for one reason or another. My wife gets more than I do, though.
