Anything that compares surpasses Surface Book Pro? Maybe with better performance/value?
Looking for something that is a full fledged PC with pen/great touch screen.

Surface Book is top dog for what you're asking if you want a "real" laptop feel with detachable tablet.

Anything a little lighter? Is the book THAT much better than the pro with the i7?

No, not at all, and I wouldn't advise getting the i7 either. It's not much faster. It sure as hell isn't $300 faster (price difference between the SP4 i5 and i7), unless you really really need Iris Pro graphics for GPU-accelerated workstation tasks.
The only discriminator in the surface book in terms of performance is the dedicated GPU, but you have to buy the $1800 model to get that.
If I were buying a Surface Pro 4 today, I'd get the i5/256GB/8GB version. $1299, plus $129 for the type cover. The Surface Book with the same specs is $1599. For that extra $170, you get longer battery life, larger and higher res display (same PPI as SP4 though), and a better keyboard and trackpad (according to reviewers). But it's also a bit heftier than the SP4, which it sounds like you're trying to avoid (though I wouldn't call 3.3lbs hefty when compared to some of the true workhorse laptops out there; weighs even less than the 13" Macbook Pro).

I'm interested in the book too.
I have an SP3, and I just couldn't use it as my daily workhorse. I use it at home with a monitor/keyboard/mouse and use it as a light travel computer. Some people can make it work, but even when I am just hanging out at the house, I rarely pick it over my older MBP.

If your'e wiling to wait, Apple is expected to announce their 2016 Macbook lineup. It looks like they'll be releasing 13" and 15" versions of the pro, but with the same super slim body of last year's new 12" macbook. That would be pretty killer.

Well, nvm, just saw your touch screen requirement. That would eliminate the MacBooks currently (though I have seen some new touchscreen/detachable keyboard patents that could come to life in some time. But, unless you're super dedicated to being touchscreen, you can't really ever go wrong with a macbook.

I am using it right now. So far so good. In fact at this very moment I'm using speech recognition. Thank you.

I tried the Surface Book and did not like it. It was hefty, buggy, the hinge sucked, and the charger ran WAY hot right out of the box. I took it back and ended up settling for the new HP Spectre with an i7/256 SSD/8 GB RAM. It's pretty good so far, it's light, I really like the design, and you can flip the screen all the way around to use as a tablet if you want. No 4K screen, though. For 1k cheaper than the comparable Surface Book or new XPS I can live with it.

I just got the new Lenovo Yoga 900 and I'm really impressed with it so far.

Almost got that. Really intrigued, just didn't have the pen support.

Asus. Specs are damn close to a mac if you do a lot of video work.
