Is it still the Dell XPS 13? Looking for a laptop to work from home. Moderate excel usage nothing crazy. Not trying to do photos, videos, or gaming. Most of my work revolves around Windows not sure on the Macintosh compatibility.

Cant answer your question directly, but Ive been using my XPS13 for 3 years now through school/work. Upwards of 16-20hrs of use daily. Still has the feel of brand new laptop. Love mine.

Just curious, but why do you feel the need to get the best of the best if that's all you need it for?

I’m not poor and want something that is going to last more than a year.

You don’t have to get the best of the best to last more than a year

With that said, if you got the dough then get whatever you want

The XPS line is a top of the line machine for a home user. It's the "MacBook" equivalent

I didn’t say anything about either laptop

For what you're using it for almost any mediocre laptop will last several years. I mean I've had a mediocre gateway for 8 years that i finally upgraded last week, and I do much more than just Excel stuff.
Just my opinion, spend your money as you wish though.

You sound like the perfect candidate for a MacBook Pro.

Why would I want outdated hardware and software designed for below room temp IQs?

Oh ok, you’re one of those guys.
Carry on then.
Carry on then.

To answer your thread title, it would probably be the Asus G703.
i9 Mobile CPU (6 cores, 12 threads)
1080 GPU
64GB RAM
Up to 3 500GB NVME SSD's in RAID for total of 1.5 TB
1TB SSHD
144Hz 1080p screen
and can be yours for the low, low price of $5000.00 as spec'd above....

For your use puposes the Dell XPS 13 would be great!!

Just google search for most expensive laptop. That seems to be what you are looking for.

You pretty much say you do by excluding gaming and video workstation laptops. Those are the ones that are going to have bleeding edge hardware. Otherwise you are buying performance on the level of current macbooks.
If you had an IQ above room temp, you could figure this one out yourself.

Does the MacBook have the 8th gen Intel CPUs yet?

Will it make a difference for this user?
There is a lot of legitimate gripes with Apple as with any company/product, insulting people because they chose that product over one you like better is not legitimate.

With moderately heavy excel usage, I think it would 100% benefit having the 8th gen CPU
